If the tea party are hobbits, McCain is Lotho Sackville-Baggins, who sided with Saruman and made himself Chief Shirriff.
By the way, it’s not in the movie when the hobbits get back from the war and take back the Shire with swords and a fight. Me thinks McCain outed himself as a commie dem sympathizer with this comment.
Actually, at the time, I suggested he was casting himself as Saruman. (Reread Saruman’s speech to Gandalf that Gandalf reported to the Council of Elrond — McCain wants to wield the same power the Democrats want.)
Actually the Tea Party should embrace the “hobbit” monicker: the hobbits were the inhabitants of the ‘flyover country’ of Middle Earth, prosperous small farmers, artisans and shopkeepers who needed no legislature because they had a code of laws “ancient and just”, had police who were mostly haywards, a sort of border patrol, and only two governmental offices, one elected, one hereditary. Of course they also provided the means for destroying the looming tyranny of their age.
