Wisconsin court ruling may reshape state political landscape

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A court decision ending an investigation into the activities of Republican Gov. Scott Walker's recall campaign could transform Wisconsin elections — likely enabling closer ties between candidates and organizations that support them and possibly leading to more targeted advertising and favorable legislation for the groups, political strategists and observers say.

The ruling in the case involving Walker, now a presidential candidate, and outside groups backing him invalidated state election officials' belief that organizations that coordinate with candidates on issue advocacy must reveal their donations and follow fundraising limits as if the groups are an extension of the campaign.

That opens the door to unlimited spending by outside groups on advertising that campaigns will be able to direct and manage and the state can't track. Candidates could encourage donors who have reached their limit on direct contributions to donate to organizations working on their behalf.

"(Political donors) don't like the fact their names are disclosed. This way they can give secretly," said Jay Heck, executive director of the government watchdog group Common Cause in Wisconsin. "Why would you contribute a disclosed contribution of $10,000 when you can avoid the hassle of people knowing who you are and contribute an unlimited amount of money to an issue ad? This is a brave new world.

Questions about the investigation have dogged Walker for months, a period in which he also has been raising his national profile ahead of his announcement that he was joining the presidential race. Barring an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, the ruling makes his quest for the White House smoother as he courts voters in early primary states.

Look at the operative words in this condemnation of Walker’s victory. “Could”, “Likely”, “Possibly”, “Belief”........

What exactly doe these words convey about evidence, proof, conclusive investigation?

Effing political witch hunt from the outset using a clueless judges as stooges and prosecutors whose loyalties are Democrat above all else.

Frankly, this piece of “trash” should be thrown out with the trash.

Yeah...you can count on them for that I guess. For me, words mean specific things. When nebulous and iffy words replace conclusive action words then there is likely a bias there. If I see two or three all in the first one or two sentences, I stop reading.

A better story would be the number of lawsuits filed and about to be filed against the pair of so-called prosecutors...

You might be right. But cops and DAs know who the idiots are they can finagle. But even in the end, their proclivities were sympathetic to begin with. In the final analysis, you’re right, though.

The friggin democrat party is one of the most corrupt political organizations that ever existed when it comes to campaign money laundering, voting fraud, and gerrymandering - and the maddening thing is that everyone knows it, yet nothing ever happens.

I cannot remember the media ever, EVER, going after it to expose it in all its ugliness.

But, come election time, anything and everything about a republican candidate will be “brought to light” no matter how flimsy the possible accusation.

Excellent observation. In the most fundamental way, the Culture War, the War for Traditional American Values, is a war of language. He who controls the language controls the outcome. Propaganda is a serious weapon of war.

Oh, Noes! Now the Conservatives are on the same playing field that the ‘Rats have been!

Case in point for Wisconsin. Senator (Rat, WI) Tammy Baldwin. Outside interests foisted her on us in Wisconsin, and NOW she’s the Nation’s problem.

And you can find one in every state in the Nation, I’ll bet!

Yeah I gave up trying to fix that. But If you go to The Federalist’s home page you can find the article. Or at least could. Those a-holes need some serious jail time. Little tyrants.
