Sunglasses help.
I just watch everyone, while listening behind.
If you notice the looks on people’s faces in front of you, you’ll know what’s going on behind you. They’ll either grimace, get bug-eyed or something similar.
I also watch shadows on the other sides of trees, walls, etc.
Listen for abrupt changes in tones of voices around you, too.
But, I’m not an expert.
Well played, sir. Very well played.

Amen!
Ditto that!
There are only five states that ban the open carry of firearms in most public places. They are:
California, New Jersey, Illinois, Florida, and South Carolina.
The city of Denver bans it, too. Freaking (Illegal, IMHO) ordinance.
Oops! I meant New York instead of New Jersey...
For me, its almost entirely strategic. The chances of my getting into a gunfight given my general avoidance of ghettoes is pretty low. Most criminals are jackals, not lions. So education and the inoculation effect are more important. That it might upset a few antigun wretches is just a bonus.
Bingo!
That is why I OC every opportunity I get.
stop and tie your shoelaces, position yourself to view.
Use your cell to pretend to take / make a call; re-position your body to change your view.
Look over peoples heads, as if you were focusing beyond.
Dress bland, appear bland, as if you were part of the background.
practice and focus on your peripheral vision.
If I don't need to walk side by side (kids with wife along together), I'm trailing. Easier to 360.
Naw. It won’t sink in. It is a leftist doctor who put up the sign.
I’ll take Inconvenient Facts for $100 Alex.
I do the same thing, brother.
We all have a 6 foot sphere of personal influence. We should use it.
Brother Squantos... how do, buddy?
I became an Instructor just for the reason of teaching people to protect themselves.
My way of “giving something back” as it were...
I carry every where I go regardless of signage. Concealed means concealed. A metal detector is my only filter to carry or not. I do not go into places that serve alcohol and I do not fly, so I am good. I carry on my kids’ private school grounds and in church.
I do not care if I am obvious or not. One of my wife’s friends once said it looked like I was checking out women all the time. My wife said, “he is, and every guy as well...”. It also makes me seem aloof on conversations, but I do not care. I tend to avoid really crowded places anyway.
