THE FUTILITY OF POLITICS AND OUR GREEK FATE IF NOTHING CHANGES
Vanity | 7/16/2015 | Self

Posted on 07/16/2015 2:51:19 AM PDT by Nextrush

'ITS NOT PROGRESSIVE TO ALLOW PEOPLE RETIRE EARLY' Leftist Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras talks about the latest austerity measures including a 67 year old retirement age.

"A CONSUMPTION TAX WOULD REVITALIZE THE NATION'S ECONOMY' Conservative radio host and 'friend' of John Boehner Bill Cunningham on his Sunday July 12, 2015 radio program.

Political parties and political media claim there are major differences between major parties.

The Progressive parties of the Left are against cutting benefits and the Conservative parties of the Right are against raising taxes.

But then there's the hard truth of economic reality where nations are deeper and deeper in debt and dependent on international banking elites to maintain their creditworthiness.

The terms for nations are just like those for credit card customers. They want you in debt and not paying off your bills as they keep increasing your credit limit.

In nation after nation political parties of the Left and Right break promises to their grassroots supporters with benefit cuts and tax increases.

During the Obama presidency, Republican leaders in Congress have acted to raise our nation's debt ceiling on more than one occasion to maintain the creditworthiness of the United States in the eyes of the rating agencies.

Ted Cruz and Mike Lee filibustered to call their bluff on it once and force GOP insiders to help win a cloture vote.

The harsh reality of the austerity world we live in for nation after nation are cuts in benefits, rises in taxes and so on. Republicans in Congress have voted to create new taxes called 'airline fees' in recent years and look to me like they will try to drop a consumption (national sales) tax on us if they get full political power. One benefit cut in recent years has involved military pensions.

This national sales tax scheme was done in Canada by its then Progressive Conservative Prime Minister Brian Mulroney in the 1980's under the pressure of big spending. Mulroney's action led to the emergence of a third party (Reform) and kept the Conservative Party out of power for a dozen year period when the Liberal Party ruled Canada.

Republicans and Democrats talk a good game but when it comes to action the only game they play is subservience to business and banking elites with things like TARP in 2008 directly aimed at bankers and the more recent Obamacare and Amnesty bailouts for big business, among other things.

Obamacare forces everyone to buy insurance and jacks up Medicaid payments so big insurance and big hospitals benefit from it. It also allows big business employers to cut and contain health care costs.

They get to drop coverage by going with more part time (under 30 hour employees). Obamacare with its Progressive sounding "Cadillac Health Plan" tax gimmick gives big business employers the ability to force more out of our pockets for health care costs and creates a ceiling for their health care costs.

And then there's the big business bonanza of unlimited cheap labor created by Amnesty from that "Leftist" President Obama who even opens up Cuba so big business can operate there, too.

The only real Progressive Leftist polices you get from Obama in the end are the social sexual ones from abortion to birth control to LGBT promotion and so on.

Economically Progressive policies from Obama are only illusion and sleight of hand.

The trade legislation he recently signed off on again proved how beholden Obama is to corporate elites.

The Greek Leftist PM just sold his grassroots left-leaning supporters down the river to the corporatist elites just as sure as Obama has and just as sure as Republicans in the vein of Jeb Bush and others would sell out conservatives if we give them power as well. Of course they already have the GOP Congressional leadership like Boehner and McConnell in their back pockets.

I support Ted Cruz for President and think some Republicans are good (five percent) but in the long run I look for a sober sane third party and or a more serious resistance with spiritual strength behind it and a non violent intention-commitment.

Tax revitalize a dead economy? LOL! The socialists never learn and they never change.

The cue from your title was to expect something substantive, something concrete outside of the usual political yik-yak.

<>I look for a sober sane third party . . . <>

There are around eight or so conservative leaning third parties. Take your pick, but the condition of our national politics is a symptom and not the cause of what ails our once republic.

I pretty sure Bill Cunningham, who may or may not be a douche but isn’t a socialist, was talking about REPLACING the federal income tax with a sales tax. Not adding a sales tax on top of it. Duh. Personally I’m not so sure about that idea but LOTS of conservatives support it.

As for the Greek Commie PM, um, Nextrush, are you criticizing him from the left? Spending cuts are GOOD, Greece is spending more than it can afford on crap like undeserved pensions. Tsipras wised the F up, bought a clue, and took the ridiculously generous deal his creditors foolishly offered him, to save his miserable country whether the retards in his own commie party like it or not. Good for him.

https://euobserver.com/economic/129626

<<<<<<<<<<”The summit produced a seven-page document, which envisages two sets of Greek reforms, as well as additional steps.

The first set is to: improve VAT collection; broaden the tax base; reform the pension system; copper-plate the independence of the Greek statistical office; and create a system of “quasi-automatic” budget cuts in case the Greek economy underperforms.

The second set is much bigger.

It includes: deeper pensions cuts; new retail laws, for instance, introducing Sunday trading; opening up of “macro-critical” professions like ferry transportation; privatisation of the electricity grid; weakening of trade unions; and ending “political interference” in bank sector appointments.”<<<<<<

I don’t see anything there for a CONSERVATIVE to be upset about. Quite the opposite. Are you just mad they aren’t leaving the eurozone? I’m all for then end of the eurozone but where Greece was heading if they didn’t take this deal was reduction to third world status.

It has been pointed out years ago that if we traded a national sales tax for the IRS we would end up with both. Abolish the IRS and the income tax for a year or so first!

There are crazy people out there, proud, vain and drunk.

They narrow their appeal with critical attacks on anyone and everything and the attacks are related to their craziness.

We need a new party other than the existing third parties ready to pull in religious people, libertarians, working class people in general among others to defeat Uniparty politics and the corporate elites that back it.

Ted Cruz speaks of a “Washington Cartel”.

Nigel Farage got the message right with UKIP and got 12 percent of the vote in spite of the weight of the major parties campaign against him in the last UK election.

They adopted ‘em from the Greeks... like they appropriated most other things...

They were masters at taking existing things and making them their own... and better in many cases.

But you can’t hold a whole fraternity responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn’t we blame the whole fraternity system? And if the whole fraternity system is guilty, then isn’t this an indictment of our educational institutions in general? I put it to you, Greg - isn’t this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want to us, but we’re not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America. Gentlemen!
