Think Gov. Scott Walker is ‘divisive’? Think again
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel ^ | July 15, 2015 | Christian Schneider

Before Gov. Scott Walker began his sweaty presidential announcement speech at the Waukesha County Expo Center on Monday, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin was looking to put his future ambitions on ice. Signaling the attacks Walker will endure from the left, party chair Martha Laning said the governor was guilty of "unprecedented corruption, division" and "extremism."

Of course, the charge of "division," is merely a placeholder for saying, "Walker has enacted policies we don't like." The Journal Sentinel Editorial Board followed with an editorial titled, "The ever divisive Scott Walker," which claims Walker is "the most divisive Wisconsin politician in living memory."

Well.

Set aside the cranial gymnastics necessary to portray a governor who has won three elections in four years in the birthplace of progressivism as "divisive."(Also, whose "living memory"? Nobody alive remembers Joe McCarthy?)In fact, even after the left has thrown the kitchen sink, the plumbing and a bucket of rubber duckies at Walker,Wisconsin seems to have come to the conclusion that it might actually like the guy.

But "divisiveness" is a charge reserved for Republicans who are actually governing in a manner consistent with their campaign promises. The "divisiveness" charge is especially cynical,as it assumes the GOP has passed much of its landmark legislation solely to irritate Democrats. In reality, Walker and the Republican-run Legislature are simply enacting policies they earnestly believe benefit the state.

Of course, Democrats are never portrayed as "divisive." Like when a president rams a bill that takes over 16% of the American economy through Congress using a procedural gimmick, leading to electoral bloodbaths for Democrats in 2010 and 2014. Or when a president circumvents Congress to enact amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants, fully in opposition to public opinion.

But Walker is painted as "divisive" because he enacted a bill that all but eliminated the indefensible practice of public sector unionization....

“PHILADELPHIA — Republican Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker entered the presidential election Monday, and Democrats and left-leaning voting rights advocates at the annual NAACP convention this year couldn’t be happier.

Walker’s rise to prominence as a candidate, and his support for contentious voter ID laws, made him a soft target for DNC chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, who addressed the NAACP in Philadelphia on Monday.

“Scott Walker claims that he wants to bring Wisconsin to Washington,” Wasserman-Schultz said in her address. “But the truth is he’s already brought the worst of Washington’s dysfunction and divisiveness to Wisconsin.”

Walker passed “one of the nation’s strictest voter ID laws” she added, “and then he fundraised off it, capitalizing financially on potentially denying people their right to vote.”

Touting his conservative record in his announcement speech Monday, Walker was unapologetic about his cuts to Planned Parenthood, about defeating unions, and he received thunderous applause when he mentioned the Wisconsin law that requires people to present a photo ID before being allowed to vote.......”

Walker is the right guy, for the right position, but at the wrong time.

We need a couple of self-financing pit bulls to run as Republicans RIGHT NOW! Go Trump/Cruz.

Walker — maybe in twelve years or so.

I’m OK with divisiveness. Proggies will NEVER find common cause with Americans. Case in point: mere days after 9/11, liberals in Berkeley, CA demanded American flags be removed from fire trucks because they were “offended” upon seeing it. Screw them. Bring on divisiveness!

Sept 2014:

“What Republican tea party extremists like Scott Walker are doing is they are grabbing us by the hair and pulling us back,” she added, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “It is not going to happen on our watch.”

Wasserman Schultz, who chairs the Democratic National Committee, cited as examples, Walker’s opposition to a minimum wage hike, and opposition to a bill that would give people a way to fight back against employment discrimination.

The Journal Sentinel said Democrats are hoping to rally their base for the November election, in which Mary Burke (D) is running against Walker. Polls that were released in August showed a virtual tie, although some showed Burke leader Walker.

“She has run a campaign from beginning to now that is exactly on track to make sure she’s elected governor, a slow rolling boil that will eventually reach a crescendo that will send her to the governor’s office,” Wasserman Schultz said.

It’s the second time this week that a Democrat has used especially harsh language to describe their Republican opponents. In Alabama, a Democratic candidate for the House said the GOP is “worse than” the Islamic State, and said Republican policies amount to economic terrorism.”

The biggest complaint these liberals, socialists and communists have against Scott Walker is that he reuses to compromise. Begging your pardon, but isn’t this why we are in the mess we are in? Because of these Washington politicians, for the last 100 years, have always looked for ways they can “COMPROMISE”. For the last 100 years, these “PROGRESSIVES” only want “1/2” a loaf. By this time, they have the whole “LOAF”, and every body was wondering how we got here. We need people that will drive back all of these very stupid laws we now have on the books, without “COMPROMISING” with these “PROGRESSIVES”.
