The time that I have for FR has been with the goings on in Waco.
Perhaps it's been done to death, but one image keeps coming when I hear the Donald.
Our choices seem to be between a nationalist moderate, and a bunch of globalist moderates, and maybe one or two globalist conservatives. Pick your poison.
National Review sold out to the Left a long time ago——and they are part of the Dialectic to move us into totalitarian control (confusion).
They are NEVER clear-—and NEVER promote TRUTH/GOD anymore....as much as I like it when Jonah IS RATIONAL——he can have some Common Sense.......but he also loves to be “in with Flynn”——and make the millions and not be demonized 24/7 and alienated in the Alinsky manner.
All main-stream institutions are controlled by the irrational LEFTIST sodomites, now-—ALL-—even SCOTUS with the Marxist Kagan and the bribed and controlled “Justice” Roberts.
Really sick how Jonah and that Olsen are promoting tribal pagan, satanic ethics of sodomy and not embracing Natural Law Theory and Right Reason according to Natural Law-—our American Justice System being thrown out (unconstitutionally) for a tribal, Marxist system of Rule of Man..
They embrace a Vice System-—so they can remain popular with the controllers-—just like the Catholic Church with the anti-pope.
Jonah needs to be CLEAR and ONLY PROMOTE TRUTH——and we see Trump vilified for simply stating the Truth. It is true that Trump can be a plant......it is what Leftists do-—Lie and Lie and sneak in people who appear to be what they are not.
Who knows who is lying?????? But-—at least state the Truth about Rule of Law-—illegal immigration, vile evil degrading vice of sodomy and how flipping 2000 years of Western Civ ethics to the tribal, pagan Afghani harem boy IRRATIONAL ethics is “Good”.
Come on, Jonah——Truth will set you FREE!!!!
C’mon Ed! You flogged this lame drivel all weekend. Could you exert yourself just a little and find some new screed to nurse a while?
You’re a brave man.
This is an excellent article which points out, politely, why the “conservative” echo chamber around Donald Trump is unhealthy not only for conservatism, but for America.
Thank you for the post.
Donald Trump is the politically incorrect answer to political correctness.
He has my attention.
I like Trump only in so far is that real conservative candidates need to use him as an example on how to cut through the lib-dem crap.
I understand where Jonah is coming from, but his choice of words is on the groteque side.
Trump is a guy who is speaking what the sane people think and say, but cannot get traction on. He does not need to pander, but there could be an aspect of that in his bravado.
Cruz and Walker are the only others to have spoken with so much backbone. Of these two, Walker has hired the man who got Thad Cochran in office again to run his election campaign and stayed comparatively silent on Trump’s positions. Cruz has stood by Trump’s stance.
I trust Cruz more, by far, on the issues. But I would be extremely happy to see all others but these two gone before the primary voting starts.
Any candidate not speaking out against illegal immigration is a joke—and not Trump.
Jonah sounds like Lindsay Graham, but with harsher words.
Jonah needs to let people decide through honest means, rather than by smear.
You should, too.
Well, I’m not a big Trump supporter, but I think he’s really adding a lot to the debate. He is actually giving cover to other conservatives and allowing them to appear very reasonable, while still making strong conservative points. This is the first time we have really had someone who can make the rest of our candidates look good to libs ;)
Illegal immigration is a second major cause of the high unemployment. But because of the reaction to some of Trumps statements, it's taken center stage.
Here's an answer to his questions:
Immigration: Question: Just how many rapists and drug dealers did Donald Trump want to give green cards to?
Slanderous cheap shot since Trump is on record wanting to deport the criminals and the sponges. And no candidate, not even Cruz has said he will deport them all. Trump is right when he says there has to be a path for legalization. You cannot fix this problem because it's gone on for 30 years, and there have been marriages and children and business partnerships, and etc. There is no just way to deport them all. Trump wants to halt the hemmorage and deport the worst. Cruz wants to halt the hemmorage and only then talk about what to do with the ones that are here.
Abortion: at least hes flip-flopping in the right direction, and I dont like to second guess peoples professed religious convictions.
Yet this asswipe did second guess him. And one change in the right direction hardly makes Trump a flip-flopper.
"Obamacare: The man wrote in his own book and said elsewhere that he was in favor of Canadian-style socialized medicine"
Here's Trumps actual statements on Healthcare. He is for repeal of Obamacare, but he also wants to find market based ways to take care of all of our people.
Hillary: Speaking of her, Trump praised Hillary Clinton and her health-care reform plan in 2007!
Trump change of heart on Hillary And What he really said was in the context of her running for the democrat nomination
Economics: People tout the guys business record. But he represents almost exactly what his supporters think he opposes. Hes a crony capitalist par excellence. He gives to whatever politician can grease the skids for his next deal and he makes no apologies for it. Hes an eminent-domain voluptuary. He abuses bankruptcy laws like a stack of homemade get-out-of-jail-free cards.
Well the author effectively excuses Trump for his donations to the democrats acknowledging that it's just business. But he tirades against Trump for using Corporate structures to manage risk the way they were designed to be used. I can see why Trump made fun of him.
Seriously, This guy is not looking at the issues as much as he is looking at a way to attack Trump. Here's a more comprehensive look. Is Trump perfect? No. Are any of them? No. Trump understands the economy better than any of them.
That's actually pretty funny.
Goldberg says a lot of interesting things here... but I keep going back to this question:
Where would the party be RIGHT NOW if there was no Donald Trump in the mix?
Jeb Bush frontrunner, that's where.
And for me, nothing is worse that that.
N O T H I N G
Think about it, Jeb really isn't much different, or better, than Bernie.
Fact is, Bernie is probably the more honest of the two.
"We can return America to her former greatness if we get tough and act smart.
We do those five things and we will pass along to our kids and grandkids not only a government they can afford, but also one they can be proud of."
The ironic thing is: Donald Trump is doing an intervention on all these people and the GOP-e
Calling them out and throwing all their un-Americanism in their faces
It seems Jonah is distressed by several things about Trump.
He’s unseemly. He’s brash, arrogant and not humble. He displays a degree of immaturity not expected in a man of his age.
He has coveniently changed his mind on various issues, though the true motive for those changes we can only guess at...personal or financial gain are likely- but genuine new perspectives DO occur and he may have actually changed his mind.
Mostly, Jonah takes a tone. The tone is one I’m accustomed to hearing from intellects on the left and too often on the right as well. You need protection from yourself, and *I* am willing to come down to your level to shine the light on your stupidity, ignorance and failure to understand the nature of politics and what true conservatives are.
Claptrap!!!
Jonah pays lip service to our anger and confusion and fears, then discounts them.
I don’t like or trust anyone running. That includes Trump. But I’ll tell you this- he’s in a unique position because of his wealth to say out loud without reservation what millions of citizens, on both sides are thinking.
For that reason I hope he stays in this race a good while.
He may not be the answer but he is doing a good job. The NRO however favors The GOP-E. We must ride the wave if Trump is good enough and send him to victory. But I favor Cruz and Jindal.
This conservative is wise enough to realize that Donald is not a true blue conservative and he may actually be doing the bidding of the global elite who run the show, or try to.
Nonetheless he has done something no rino or conservative has done and that’s break down some of these walls that hide the fact that America is being destroyed by massive illegal migration on purpose.
Hopefully he takes on the “hate whitey” and “celebrate sodomy” transformation that the D of C is forcing on us.
Another hope is that his ego takes over as he realizes he actually can become P. We need a rebel leader to counter Soros.
Trump isn’t a conservative, and he’s not even a Republican.
While I applaud him for bringing certain issues to the forefront, I have no belief that he’d actually do anything about them, even on the 1 in 1,000,000 chance he could actually get elected.
Normally, I’d be all in favor of letting Trump rant, because he’s tapping into the seething anger out there and giving frustrated people a voice. But the cost is high: he’s sucking the oxygen out of the room for more viable candidates (e.g., Ted Cruz), who need to get the media exposure, which is hard when some 40% of the nightly news broadcast is about Trump.
The only silver lining I can think of is that following the inevitable Trump implosion, it’s going to be hard to portray any remaining member of the field as the “scary, crazy one” in comparison.
