Brown Introduces Legislation Penalizing States for Issuance and Display of Confederate Plates Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) has introduced legislation (S. 1689) that would reduce a state's federal highway funds if the state issues a license plate with the image of a confederate flag or allows a vehicle to be registered with a license plate that contains an image of a confederate flag. Specifically, the funding available for a state under the National Highway Performance Program and the Surface Transportation Program would be reduced by 5 percent in each year that a state issues a license plate with an image of the flag of the Confederate States of America, including the Battle Flag of the Confederate States of America. Additionally, beginning in the second year of the legislation, 5 percent of federal highway funds would be withheld every year a state allows a confederate flag license plate to be displayed on a motor vehicle registered in that state. This legislation has just been introduced ...

This is what happens when we allowed the feral government to collect our taxes and redistribute them to us they will exercise complete control. License plates should be under State control. The next thing will be that no vehicle will be allowed on their streets or highways with any sticker, sign, symbol that doesn’t meet with big government approval. Just like e-bay, Confederate Battle Flag, bad and disallowed, black panther, che guevara and the nation of islam flags, good and allowed.
