In a sudden reversal amid a stinging backlash, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and GOP legislative leaders said they agreed Saturday to completely remove a part of the proposed state budget that would severely roll back open records laws.
The sudden furor had become a serious distraction for Walker as he prepares to formally announce his candidacy for the GOP presidential nomination on July 13. He told reporters before an Independence Day parade in the Milwaukee suburb of Wauwatosa on Saturday morning that he planned to discuss the matter with legislative leaders after the weekend, the Journal Sentinel reported.

Because you never ever changed your mind...Mr. No Dog in The Race.
So, let’s put you squarely in the camp of AP and Yahoo news.
Is this another fake story hit piece on Walker? Like the last 2 were?
Two not so reputable political news sources.
Another attempted hit piece on Walker.
Not really a major flip flop - this was a last minute add to an existing piece of legislation. And frankly, this is the better result.
Exactly! That’s their business and I have no dog in the fight either. But I’ve been tuning into Walker of late and he is a flip flopping disaster. Not ready for Prime Time as it were. Certainly not POTUS material so far and appears to be the dimmest bulb in the bunch. He’s a lapdog.
Fortunately for him. the Trump Circus is in town.
I’ll be so glad when the nitwit candidates fall to the wayside and run an assault against the GOPe. I just hope it doesn’t happen too late or we get Jebby.
How can reporting a fact be a hit piece?? We can’t always assume the source is a hit piece.
This is a fact. This is what he did. I don’t care the source.
When we just assume “oh it’s from ‘X’ and must be wrong, then we ignore the enemy at the door before it is too late.
Wow! It’s amazing how many people on FR are in a state of denial when it comes to their guy. Anything said about another candidate becomes “Instant Truth” in their mind. But, when it’s their guy, or gal, it’s another “hit piece”...... Yeah; right!
No, but some of us who have watched how the Urinal Sentinel has consistently lied and published semi-truthful fabrications to try to hurt Walker have just seen this movie before.
Bingo bingo and bingo again my friend. SO SO true.
And that is what is going to doom us. We need to be open to the fact that, well ... who we like may be an idiot.
Blind obedience to politicians we “like” is what got us into this mess. Continuing to do that sure isn’t going to get us out of it.
You’re stating to smell funny...isn’t that amazing?
This may be political tactic more than anything. And if it is, it is a smart tactic.
Historically, the most important thing in determining if a government is appreciated by its citizens, is called “government efficiency”. It is a simple ratio of what a government promises vs. what it delivers.
If the ratio is close to par, the government promising little, but always delivering on its promises, that government will be seen as “efficient”. Oddly enough, it matters far less *what* is promised, than that it delivers on those promises.
This can be broken down further. Of course, if the government gives the public what it wants, even if what it wants is not very bright or good, the public will usually appreciate the effort.
And there is another element: not giving the people what they *don’t* want. And this goes to what Walker has done.
Walker probably knows very well what the people want. And a smart government would give them what they want, and not give them what they don’t want. But the people don’t really see this thoughtfulness on the part of their government.
So, a *smarter* government would create a potential “straw law”, like a rhetorical “straw man”, whose purpose is to mildly annoy and irritate the public, who will then complain about it. And once they complain, the government can demonstrate how *responsive* it is to the public, by canceling the straw law.
This makes the public happy, because it is a tangible way for the government to show that it cares what the public thinks and wants, and is able to deliver on its promise to stop the bad law.
Thanks for bringing this to the attention of those still capable of some objectivity. I added an article from WSJ on the issue to clarify where things stand today in post 13.
The man gets his backing from the USCOC and his staff from Mitt Romney. Thats a set in stone fact and all anyone needs to know. Vote for that and they gut the Mitch/Bhoner GOP.
He could rescue or rape puppies. It wouldn’t matter either way when the above is considered. The people that would vote for him belong in the DNC.
Edit - gut = GET
This has nothing to do with Walker giving the people what they want. This is a blatant attempt to hide public records that will now be under scrutiny in the Presidential campaign. Walker cannot afford scrutiny of the WEDC he chaired, nor records concerning the illegal coordination between agencies that handled his campaign. These matters are all under investigation.
He also does not want to have to turn over actual data that will refute the spin he has been selling on jobs and economic situation in Wisconsin since he took over.
Come to think of it, I haven’t seen much from that Ohio babe who’s been pushing Walker non-stop. Maybe he’s running out of gas.
Gov Walker did not put the subject matter into the Budget
