Elections have consequences - we were warned
June 26, 2015 | Self

This is exactly why, when conservatives sit on the sideline awaiting the 100% pure candidate, we damage ourselves. Election have consequences and this is one - the ability to select Supreme Court Justices who will sit for life. Look at the ages of Obama's picks - 55 and 61. They are not going anywhere for years.

Abortion, gay marriage, assaults upon Christianity... and we dare to sing God Bless America. Why would he bless us when we spit in his eye.

I agree -- Republicans in name only continuously attack Republicans and conservatives, and are doing it to undermine the Republican party. They are not very secret agents for the enemy.

Years ago their line consisted of buzzwords like "neoconservative" and "RINO"; now it's more likely to be "uniparty" and "GOPe", and contain statements like "I'll never send the Republican Party another dime".

As you said, they're "purists". They refuse to consider any conservative, because that's what they're all about -- rejecting conservatism. They operate online in order to undermine all opposition to the Party of the Single Party State, the ill-named Democratic Party.

No matter who is the nominee, their job is to pretend to be conservatives and Republicans (or former Republicans) and attack the nominee as hand-picked in a fictional process.

I’m fairly sure we agree on just about everything. Kudos for voting, even for a weak candidate. My diatribe was aimed at the many on FR who helped put Pelosi/Reid in power in 2006 and sat at home in 2008 and 2012 rather than vote for a flawed-but-better-than-a-socialist candidate.

Romney was a disaster, and I think we all knew it long before 2012. Despite his wealth, the man was a terrible candidate. Couldn’t buy a vote, and probably didn’t have the guts to do it if he could. I’m so shallow that I grimaced at the prissy way he walked on stage during the debates. Such a wuss.

I would love nothing more than to have a candidate next year who I could back wholeheartedly. The “hold your nose” approach is getting old, but when there’s no good choice on the ballot, I’m still not going to sit at home. I did my tiny part to boot Obama, it wasn’t enough, but at least I tried.

Don’t know how I feel about the field this year. None of them check all my boxes, but that’s to be expected. I really want to like Ted Cruz, agree with him on just about everything, but am having a hard time getting past his smarmy vibe. Don’t even ask me to define that. I know it’s offensive, but my gut reacts to him like it did to Spiro Agnew, and that’s not a nice thing to say.

Time, and a few primaries, will tell.

Ansel12 - Again, you have no valid argument that Obama is 100% worse than Romney would have been on foreign policy. The debate is over on that subject. Obama is a Muz Brotherhood supporter and hates Israel. Romney is not. Need I say more?

Instead you resort to a weak ad-hom on the candidate Romney’s lack of military service as if that negates his strong foreign policy stance. Just like liberals do (ad-homs when they have no argument).

Might I remind you that my friend Ronald Reagan ALSO DIDN’T SERVE IN THE MILITARY either (I visited him in his office once).

Are you also going to criticize the venerable Ronald Reagan for his lack of military service?

I rest my case.

Stop being stubborn about this.

Again, conservatives back the most conservative of the conservative candidates. If a conservative does not back that candidate when both are acceptable, then they arent actually conservative. They are playing politics like any other GOP idiot.

But I agree. The candidates themselves did not help.

Bonehead and McConnell and Romney etc are leading the Republican Party to the left. It has become nothing more than a little “me too” sister to the Democrats.

Look how fast the GOP jumped onto the anti-Confederate flag bandwagon!

I won’t mind if the GOP ceases to exist. It doesn’t deserve to have my vote.

Romney lost because the squishy liar was unelectable.

Get over it.

oH REALLY.

Reagan’s Reserve Commission automatically terminated on 1 April 1953. However, he became Commander-in-Chief of all U.S. Armed Forces when he became President on 20 January 1981.

Welcome to Free Republic. Every election cycle at about this time the GOPee has people like you join FR to spread the BS that voting republican actually will make a difference this time. You’re easy to spot.

Are you an employee of the GOPee or of a consulting firm the GOPee hired to do this?

How can you live with yourself?

I would rather fly it than the US flag on the 4th of July

I hate what this country has become. I HATE it. I feel NO loyalty to this America. None.

I am seething with it today. I passionately hate the Republican Party of today as much as I hate the Democrats too.

They don’t deserve spit if they were on fire.

You know what else. I’m not praying for this country, I don’t want to delay its collapse any more.

Yes, it would. But I would solve the problem once and for all before they do (and make no mistake they will eventually)

—”I will not vote for evil so deal with it.”

Looks like you’re NEVER going to vote again.

All candidates [THAT MAKE IT THRU THE PRIMARIES] have some things you will say are not conservative enough.

And as for your 3rd candidate remark, get real... Your vote for an unknown 3rd party is NO DIFFERENT than not voting when you KNEW that the next president would be chosen from only 2 candidates on the day of the election.

There were ONLY 2 choices. You have just proven that you are delusional.

Finally, I’d like you to read the last TWO sentences you wrote and cogitate for a moment on your bald hypocrisy:

SpeakerToAnimals: “If Bush is the nominee I will vote for Hillary to keep him out. I will not vote for evil so deal with it.”

Ummm, dude, in one breath, you say won’t vote for EVIL, and the next breath you’re saying you’ll vote for Hitlery??? You are one mixed up dude.

You are just simply way beyond stubborn at this point. Wake up!!

I agree that JEB is pathetically bland and as RINO as RINO can be, but Hitlery would be worse. Multiply Benghazi by 10X.

If I ever in my life mention such a thing as which one of those two is worse in foreign policy, then accuse me of doing so, but don't make it up like you just did.

Bill Ayres (Obama’s mentor) said he’d murder 25 million of us to bring about his communist Utopia. It’s only fair that we should listen to people like him and take them at their word.

Because you’re right, they’re now making plans to kill conservatives and Christians.
