I’m here to tell you, all Republicans are screwed at the polls in 2016. NOT ONE of the base will come out to vote for them.

I sure won’t.

RE: Didn’t the people of Mississippi vote to keep it in a ballot referendum just a few years back?

And that is what Nikki Haley should have done for South Carolina as well.

“It’s the first time a Mississippi Republican elected official has publicly called for the removal of the emblem that served as the battle flag flown by the Confederate army during the Civil War.”

That’s not true, former Governor Ronnie Musgrove called for a change. A referendum was held, the bumper stickers most evident in the campaign said “Change the Governor, Keep the Flag”. A large majority voted to keep the Flag, it also carried in the black community but not by as wide a margin as the white community. One of the few areas that of the State where they voted to change the flag was Starkville and the rest of Oktibbeha County, Home of Mississippi State University and that vote was likely an anti-Ole Miss vote. Governor Musgrove was a one term Governor losing to Haley Baqrbour. Change the Governor, Keep the Flag bumper stickers were widespread during this campaign.

Those days are over for me.

I’m not certain the demonrats can do us much more harm.

Besides, I have become convinced that the entire system has to collapse before it can be repaired.

Mississippi have a talent for producing half assed leaders.

EXHIBIT A:

I take great exception to that statement. In fact, I resemble that statement!

I'm with you. The establishment Chamber-of-Commerce types have to actually experience a few years living under President Warren, Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Sanders before they come back and beg for our help and forgiveness.

Yes, we did, and by a decisive majority. So I don’t see how any politician can just take it upon himself to say he’ll get rid of it. The voters voted to keep our flag, in strong numbers. It was voted upon, passed overwhelmingly, and is part of our state flag, which makes this somewhat different from the situation in South Carolina. Not that the left hasn’t ever disregarded the vote of the people to advance their agenda (see the gaystap and the propositions they had overturned by the courts).

The fact the state legislature is willing to do what THEY think is best for the state, REGARDLESS of what "the majority" wants, should PLEASE the "we're not a democracy, we're a republic" crowd. Haven't they argued over and over again that democracy = mob rule and its eeeeeeeeeeeevil to let the majority decide what the state should do? Haven't they said state legislatures are the best form of government and they need to reclaim their power?

Every opening day the Cleveland Indians have a protest demonstration outside their ballpark. About a dozen people, mostly white liberals from the UCC headquarters down the street and a couple phoney-baloney drugstore Indians to lend interviews to the local news chick. Nobody cares, and their numbers are not increasing.

I am stunned that all of this is happening because of a mass shooting. Events have gotten the ball rolling on this.

It is called “a Boom.” A more modern explanation being :”let no good crisis go to waste.” Begin to learn that the left moves like a choreographed ballet. That gives “the point of view de jour” the appearance of inevitability.

These liberals won’t stop until they get to the US flag. THAT is their ultimate goal. Has been.

Liberals won’t stand for it, Obama won’t salute it, pro ball players won’t stand for it.

We’ve got a contingent of freepers here that support Nikki’s disrespect for Southern heritage and the flag, right MinuteGal? You support Nikki, MinuteGal. I suppose you must then support, by the reasons Nikki gave, the removal of the US flag since it represented slavery at some point.

Reminds me of the anti-gun hysteria back in 1968 when Bobby Kennedy was murdered.

Embarrassing that Republicans are tap dancing to the piper.

The flag had nothing to do with the murders and this is a free speech issue but of course they will kowtow to the racialist demagogues trying to prove that they're not racist.

BTW What makes these murders worse than others?

Is it numbers or motive? Are some victims worth more than others?

Is it worse than the 5 yr old White girl shotgunned in her bed by the black home invader, the Christian / Newsome torture- rape murders or the Wichita Massacre?

The murders of the family by black home invaders a few weeks ago or the Aussie baseball player or the 18 month old baby shot in the head?

How about the black women and kids murdered in their home by black robbers last year or the 5 yr old black child murdered by a black gang member while she was sitting on her grandpa's lap.

A White father and son were shotgunned in NOLA a few weeks ago by an aspiring rapper. No one questioned how he got the gun (stolen) and no calls to ban hate filled, racist rap.

BTW I pray for all of these victims.
