Lindsey Graham: It's him, not the flag
CNN ^ | 6/19/15 | Walbert Castillo

Posted on 06/20/2015 9:17:07 AM PDT by ek_hornbeck

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham blames 21-year-old Dylann Roof, the man who shot and killed nine African Americans praying in Charleston, for his actions, and the presidential hopeful doesn't want the Confederate flag to be used as an excuse.

"We're not going to give this a guy an excuse about a book he might have read or a movie he watched or a song he listened to or a symbol out anywhere. It's him ... not the flag," the Republican senator told CNN's "New Day" Alisyn Camerota.

When Graham was asked his thoughts regarding the Confederate flag, he said, "It works here, that's what the statehouse agreed to do. You could probably visit other places in the country near some symbol that doesn't quite strike you right."

Lindsey Graham defending the confederate flag? I never thought Graham would ever say anything that I agree with, much less go against the establishment grain on an issue.

This is probably just a pathetic attempt to jump-start his non-starter Presidential run, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say that a stopped clock still manages to be right twice a day.

There is one book...Americans DO have to blame, for the violence to which it leads.

Its name starts with K and ends with oran.

He’s right but I don’t trust Lindsay as far as I could throw him.

Give credit where credit is due. I’m 100% with Graham on this one.

This flag represents states’ rights and, imo, allegience to the Constitution.

Not anyone’s ‘supremacy’ or whatever race-baiting flavor the lying media is using these days.

Attacks on the Confederate Flag aren’t about slavery or the Confederacy. The same people who want to tear the Confederate Flag down want to tear down the American Flag and in fact every symbol of western culture across the board. The Confederate Flag is just an easier and more convenient target, fewer people are outraged by attacks on it or are willing to defend it.

If they take down this flag, then it's on to the Stars & Stripes. From there, it will be illegal to display the Christian cross. The media controls the narrative, so they get to define the meanings of symbols whichever way they choose.

I do believe that I will see it in my lifetime; that people flying the U.S. flag will be called racists. It's already happening at schools in the southwest.

The media is the enemy.

Liberals and leftists have been calling flag-wavers racists since the 1960's.

Pander Bear. He wants to skew the SC electoral map as best he can. McCain taught him well.

I am tired of the idea of Confederate flags symbolizing hate. It just isn't so. I am equally tired of it being associated with the no longer existent KKK.

I completely agree with that. Totally deranged people like Roof, Holmes, Lanza, Loughner et al latch on to ideas and causes to give form to their insanity not the other way around. It is pointless to search for any rationality in their thinking.

RE:”LOL Graham getting some love.”

Because if he loses SC in the primary he knows he will look pretty stupid.

I could never praise him for anything.

I’m no fan of the Confederate flag so this is especially amusing to me watching him pandering.

RE:”I’m no fan of the Confederate flag so this is especially amusing to me watching him pandering.”

Grahamnsety has already flipped on this. Now he is against the flag calling for it's removal,
So all those posters who praised him for standing by it are suckers.

This is how he won this primary after taking liberal position after position, gullible suckers.

LOL - I called his office yesterday and told his staff that he should demand that the flag be taken down. In fact, he should get a picture of him taking the flag down.

Then I told them that come the next election we were going to make sure he would never get elected again and the picture would be very helpful in our campaign. That picture would be just enough to send any sane South Carolinian over the edge.

Hey - maybe our calls had an impact.
