Liberals up to and including the president are already using the tragedy at the SC church to try to advance gun control, so it begs the question, what gun control law would have prevented the tragedy?
Assault weapon bans are a favorite of anti gunners basically because they are scary looking and have large magazines. Yet reports say Roof reloaded up to 5 times. Clearly a new AWB would not have prevented the massacre.
What about universal registration? The answer is simple, it wouldn't. Universal registration is only valuable to the police to track the last person who bought the gun from a licensed dealer.
And the latest darling of the anti-gunners, universal background checks for all gun transfers. From the news reports the shooter had never been convicted of a felony or domestic violence so even if he had to pass a background check, he would have passed.
Then there is the old standby, waiting periods before you can take possession of a firearm. Wouldn't have helped since he obtained the firearm months before the crime. Besides if someone is planning to commit a mass killing, they would not be deterred by waiting a few days or even a few months. It didn't stop Adam Lanza from murdering his mother and taking her guns.
Anti-gunners would love to force everyone to undergo a psychological evaluation before "allowing" them to own a firearm. To a liberal wanting to own a firearm is enough evidence to say you are too paranoid to have one. However, that aside, Dylan Roof's friends all say that aside from the occasional racist joke, he showed no signs of murderous racism and no mental disorder. Also, almost anyone who was planning on murdering multiple people would be clever enough to conceal it from a psychologist.
So what does that leave? Total confiscation from the public? Besides being unconstitutional, it would start a civil war that would not be pretty. Also it didn't stop a person in China from getting a gun and shooting 5 people.
So, tell me, Mr. President, what would have prevented this?
The law that outlaws personal possession of any and all type of firearms. You know, no 2nd amendment.
Simple. Mandatory carry.
More Godliness would help though.

Anti-gunners aren’t interested in stopping crime. They are using crime to assist in their mission to disarm the US for political and ideological reasons.
Many white evangelical and charismatic (and some others) have their leaders and ushers armed.
the cold hard truth is that there isn’t any way to stop a killer from killing if he is intent upon killing. At best, all you can do is punish him after the fact and make a proper example out of him for other would be killers. Aside from that, one good man sitting in the pews with a Glock on his hip could have saved a lot of lives. But where men refuse to fight evil, evil will thrive.
From what I understand, the perp couldn’t pass a Background check, so his father got him the gun for his 21st birthday. A background check cannot prevent a person from giving that gun to a family member, friend, or anyone else..The background check system worked, the father decided to be an idiot and give the gun to his whack job pop pilling son

But that is a pro-gun law. What anti-gun law would have prevented it?

Many of the larger churches have security now that packs.
Ban “no gun zone” in churches. The people are sitting ducks.
This event is tailor-made for a massive federal gun-control push. It has everything: blacks, whites attacking black churches, guns, and a psychotic mass murderer.
Yep, this one will make Sandy Hook look like a back alley mugging by comparison.
It's a good bet that by next week, Boehner and McConnell will join Obama and the Demoncrats in stumping for massive federal gun control, federal cancellation of all carry permits, and massive gun bans. Just watch.

I go to a Southern Baptist church in Tennessee and I know for a fact that several members quietly carry every time the doors are open.
Yes and we have just recently passed CCW in church in GA.
Well the perp couldn’t pass a background check probably because of his numerous arrests and also the drug charges
