The short answer: he was related to everyone on both sides so it’s not that surprising after all.
I have some neighbors named “Galloway”. I always wondered if it was Irish but it looks more like Scottish now.
I find it to be interesting that there is no google-doodle for the 800th anniversary of the Magna Charta.
Galloway is the region of SW Scotland.
