Not going to look at your silly crap. Once was enough. Once was actually more than it deserved.

Stick your fingers deeper in your ears and sing louder.

The 10th Amendment doesn’t give the Federal government any power or authority it limits it.

Yes, well, I think tacticalogic’s point was that the FedMob doesn’t have the authority to allow something that they don’t have the authority to forbid in the first place.

They are trying to maintain an appearance of control over things they have no authority to control by claiming to be allowing it.

True - but it's nonetheless a step in the right direction.

The federal government would be unable to block state laws permitting the use of medical marijuana under legislation that has been approved by a Republican-controlled Senate committee.

Why not repeal the federal law prohibiting marijuana? It would be a winning issue. It will be legal in all 50 states soon enough anyway.

No, it isn't. If anything, it's a "moonwalk". It appears that it ought to be a step on one direction but the actual direction of travel is in the other.

Why is the federal government in this anyway? The states should have decision over this.

I do find it ironic that some of the states, like Washington, saw the size of the black market and though they were going to make a fortune taxing it. I guess they did not realize that once you decriminalize it, it will cost less than celery.

One other potential problem which is happening more and more is this lack of respect for the law in general.

Now we have the states basically giving the finger to the feds, decriminalizing these drugs. They have a problem with the banks, because federal banks don’t want illegal money so the states are now banking the drug business. And it is a drug business. The suppliers of marijuana include all the murderous cartels that also supply cocaine, heroine, meth. Sure some of it may be less violently supplied but it is all commingled in one supply chain. Demand for supply from “non violent” sources fuels demand for supply from violent cartels as well. Which is why the drug problem should not be fought against supply, but demand. We should not waste 1 dollar fighting the “drug war”. It is just a war against the American people. We should be investing in treatment, education, mental health instead. At the state, not the fed level.

But moreover, this lack of respect for law is spreading everywhere which is why we see flaunting of drug sales, people giving lip to the police, etc. We need to rething the way we want to police ourselves. IMO of course.

I would call it a weak concession to the truth of their lawfully mandated impotence on the subject. The overall trajectory is the right direction but it’s never right for Congress to pretend they have authorities the Constitution forbids them.

I've only met a few. The rest linger on with pointless lives while we productive folk pick up the tab.
