Theres an interesting piece up over at The Washington Post on How Jeb Bushs campaign ran off course before it even began. Meanwhile, Chris Bedford argues that Team Bush is in a lot more trouble than theyre letting on.
These are fascinating examples of process reporting, but I cant help but think it creates the wrong impression which is that Jeb Bush might be in better shape had he run a better campaign.
The truth is that campaigns do matter. And, for some candidates, the advisers and staffers they hire and the strategy and messaging they employ (all the things that we want to believe we can control) really can make or break a candidacy.
But thats not the case with Jeb.

Because he is willing to have my grand daughters learn to speak Spanish so that his wife can understand them. That’s pretty much it.
The problem is that he’s stupid.
Totally unappealing. Got as far as he has with family name and concetions.
Jeb is Hillary w/o a pant suit.
Ha HA, Maybe he should try that!
Pogo - we have met the enemy...
Well, RINOs really aren’t disliked all that much in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. Jeb chose to be contemptuous of actually campaigning for the votes of these little people, leaving him with big money for Florida but fatally rusted campaign skills.
He has no reservoir of trust or affection that comes from meeting people face to face. Jeb hasn’t even cultivated relationships with Republican office-holders much.
Jeb is the little brother that rode on the short bus to school.(retard)
Jebster’s problem is he wants voters to vote to give up the rule of law and their country.
The American citizens want the invasion stopped.
That was a good call by Bush's people. No sane conservative would have believed Jeb's convenient evolution on this issue, but to have lied would have worried Jeb's numerous big government liberal supporters.
fallen out of fashion in a world where your conservatism is defined by how angry you are and how much you did to fight Obama
This makes it sound like opposition to Obama's agenda is personal. It's personal only in the sense that we are trying to protect our children and grandchildren from evil and protect their freedom - protecting our families is personal. Opposition to Obamacare is not because of the first two syllables, it's because of religious and economic freedom for ourselves and our families. Opposition to Amnesty is not because its biggest proponent is a particular drug-addled communist but because flooding our country with voters who don't value freedom will give liberals a permanent lock on power. Jeb is on the wrong side of those issues, and it doesn't matter how friendly or angry he is with Obama if the next Bush in line is betraying our country and our children.
Amnesty for illegal aliens (whether euphemistically and deceptively titled "Pathway" or "Dream") is the big separator.
No GOP primary candidate who endorses amnesty for illegal aliens (or who does not support a secure border and common sense enforcement of our border security laws) might as well stay home.
.
Proofreading? Priceless.
"Huh?"
Jebby has no chance whatsoever.
Jebs problem is he is running as an R. He would have much more success if he runs as a D.
What does he care? No matter how terrible his campaign is he’s GUARANTEED to win.

Discerning conservatives know that both George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush were liberal globalists pretending to be conservatives. George H.W. stopped border enforcement, a policy continued by his friend and successor Bill Clinton as well as his son. Both Bushes were one sided free traders - open the US market to mercantilist nations such as China who protected and subsidized their own industries while US companies were loaded with regulations and forced to compete with slave labor. George H.W. Bush gave us David Souter on the Supreme Court and his son gave us John Roberts and would have given us Harriet Miers. Both were big spenders who failed to use their vetoes to control Congressional spending. Both lacked a message and the backbone to fight back against the media and Democrat propaganda machine.
Like many conservatives I held my nose and voted four times for a Bush father and son. Each time they promoted the globalist agenda ahead of the republic. I will not vote for another Bush as “better than the alternative”. This time it is preferable to write in the name of a patriot than endorse another wolf in sheep’s clothing. At this point in time, voting for a RINO is no different than voting for a Democrat. They’ve proven they’ll support the same agenda time after time.
