A Nevada ranch defied U.S. drought closure orders in grazing cattle on federally managed land, environmentalists said on Wednesday, comparing it to action by another Nevada rancher that led to an armed standoff last year with federal agents.

Environmentalists are stringy and taste lousy.

Because the feds have more right to the property than citizens.

Can the feds graze buffalo on their ranches?

Let us support the cowboys in rounding up all
the environmentalists. Why you ask?

They would be giving back to nature, via providing
fresh meat for coyotes and turkey buzzards.

...Because increased C02 in the atmosphere results in growth of grasses in formerly arid areas...like Nevada.

The feds can go force the farms to let wolves graze on their cattle. The feds can restrict the ranchers use of land due to a bird. The feds can control use of land which contains standing water or even rain runoff.

Oh by the way, its not the feds land. Its our land.

”.. federally managed land, ..."

Will somebody please explain to me, in terms of numbered constitutional clauses, what “federally managed” land is?

To the best of my knowledge, the feds have control over land only when they pay for it under the terms of either the eminent domain clause of the 5th Amendment, or the Constitution’s Clause 17 of Section 8 of Article I.

So do the feds have a sales receipt for the “federally managed” land in question?

Also, the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate intrastate environmental issues. So while the states need to protect the environment, why are environmentalists concerned about compliance with unconstitutional federal drought orders?

This situation also reeks of federal Senators not doing their jobs to protect their states as a consequence of the ill-conceived 17th Amendment. In this case, the corrupt Senate failed to kill bills that helped to establish unconstitutional federal control over intrastate land.

Haven’t you heard? Nevada used to be a veritable wetlands, mangrove-lined and teeming with gators, fish and nutria. Until global warming happened. Then it got parched...like, really bad. Or something.

“Heavily subsidized grazing” My A@@!

We are not talking lush pasture here. Its borderline scrub in a lot of places. The govt doesn’t do jack to the land. Most places the ranchers end up footing the maintenance or a good part of it and then fees on top of it. If you want to be able to enjoy a steak and burgers once in awhile then its time to stick up for the ranchers.

If its up to the BLM we will all be on Soylent Green. :-)

I don`t have any idea about the drought but I do know that the government officials who cater to the environmentalists
are just a bunch of lying socialists.

Parched. Nevada.

I think 'nevada' is an Indian word for "perpetual drought." Or more literally "drier than a popcorn fart since the Ancient Ones were babies."

Yeh ranchers are rich. That’s the ticket. They put our food on the table. I like steak and burgers. I don’t want to eat soylent green. Ranching is some of the hardest work in the world.

You would think that this man would be willing to pay the grazing fee.

The reason they moved their stock onto this closed lease and aren't paying the fees is to co-ordinate with the recent legislation.

The feds were supposed to turn over the land in Utah last Jan 1st but didn't, so now the other states are moving to pass their own legislation.

Its really just one piece of legislation since they were all written by ALEC. They all want it free.

I remember years ago during a drought Rio Arriba county NM sheep ranchers started grazing sheep on the Rio Chama (I think) game area.

They were ordered off but they did not leave.

The Nevada Legislature just ended it’s session and passed no such statute.

Where in the OP does it say that these ranchers aren’t paying grazing fees?

Your correct, it didn't pass, AB 408.

But it is not going away, it will be back in some shape or form.
