In Steve Reinboldt’s 1970 high school yearbook, wrestling coach Dennis Hastert wrote that Steve was his “great, right hand man” as the student equipment manager of the Yorkville, Illinois wrestling team.
But Steve was also a victim of sexual abuse at the hands of Hastert, Steve’s sister said today in an interview with ABC News. It is the first time an alleged Hastert victim has been identified by name since his indictment for lying to the FBI and violating federal banking laws to cover-up past misconduct. Hastert, due in court next week, has not responded to the allegations.
In an emotional interview, Steve Reinboldt’s sister Jolene said she first learned of her late brother’s purported years-long sexual abuse at the hands of the future Speaker of the House back in 1979 when her brother revealed to her that he was gay and had been out of high school for eight years.
“I asked him, when was your first same sex experience. He looked at me and said, ‘It was with Dennis Hastert,’” Jolene said. “I was stunned."

I think it is time for someone to research how Hastert got as rich as he is, and whether or not any of his actions as speaker may have been motivated by blackmail.
Clearly he was a prime target for blackmail and there are a lot of people who could have used Hastert’s secrets as a wedge to become rich through legislation that was promoted by the speaker.
This is why character is so important in a Republic.

If this article is accurate, Hastert's victim died of AIDs in 1995, twenty years ago. Hastert was not paying the victim. Who was blackmailing him? Why isn't the FBI interested in the blackmail of an important political figure, even after he left office. Was he being blackmailed while speaker, perhaps not for $? Hastert should be prosecuted for avoiding the reporting limits, but imo that's not the most serious crime here.
It would have certainly sent them a message. "Piss on us, and we will destroy you."
That is a message they badly need to learn, but when we spare the rod, we spoil the child.
The only thing more upsetting than this story that we had a speaker of the house molesting boys in his charge is the FReepers rushing to defend him or make light of it. Or to blame it on homosexuality.
Homosexuality between adults is not a crime. Sure, it’s a news story if Hastert was in the closet (was he married to a woman?) and getting some weenie on the side. Scandalous, sure.
But we are talking about a coach molesting boys in his care here!!! Destroying lives, destroying trust. Remaining in hs position solely to rape and seduce young high school students who are supposed to obey and trust ther coach!!!! This is criminal and SICK.
If this were a liberal Speaker, if Pelosi were paying off her former abusees, you wouldn’t all come on here and say, “Wait. There is no proof!”

I was referring to Mark Foley. If I remember it correctly... there was talk that leadership knew of Mark Foley’s predilications and sat on the info. Perhaps I am mixing things up ... there seems like so many pols who cannot keep it zipped up.... I may well have the timing wrong.
