Chinese hackers breached the computer system of the Office of Personnel Management in December, officials said Thursday, and the agency will notify some 4 million current and former federal employees that their personal data may have been compromised.
The hack was the second major intrusion of the agency by China in less than a year.
OPM, using new tools, discovered the breach in April, said officials at the agency who declined to comment on who was behind the hack.
Other U.S. officials, who spoke on conditions of anonymity because it is an ongoing investigation, identified the hackers as being from China.

Well we gotta Pass the TPP because if we give China “Czechloslovakia” they will stop tryign to hack us, right???
When stuff like this happens I just shake my head and wonder how we became the leading country in the free world and let it go to pot so quickly.
The current turkey in the WH is a lot of the problem but not all by far. We can’t even protect our federal employees with security clearances info safe from our adversaries.

This info should not be accessible by insecure computers.
Our son is affected as he has a high security clearance, we talked yesterday about this very thing and you're correct. He says he and any others that have been compromised complete life history will be in the hands of our adversaries.
The government will supposedly pay for 10 years of liability insurance for identity theft which will cost taxpayers a huge amount and to me is not much consolation.
Used to be they just had to pay off one of the Clintons.

I also see that the U.S. Government was warned in the 90's of the hazards of putting these data bases online and the powers that be brushed it off.
That's most typical as well.
