Young people brought to the country illegally as children but allowed to stay under a federal program will be granted driving privileges in Nebraska.
Senators voted 34-10 to override Gov. Pete Ricketts' veto of LB 623 Thursday morning.
Ricketts argued that the bill is wrong on principle and overly broad.
"The enactment of LB 623 at this time is an expansive and unwarranted grant of an important state identification document to an overly broad group of illegal immigrants," Ricketts said.

Another weirdity coming out of Nebraska. I thought they had a Republican Legislature? WTF is the matter with them?
Rapidly watching our country being stolen from us for the purpose of electing selfish morons who are putting themselves ahead of everything and everyone else!

It's the "new & improved" GOP, don-cha-know. "Lesser evil" is how we got the backstabber in charge of the Senate.
I don't believe that they are stupid at all. They know exactly what they are doing and why they are doing it. Joe and Jane voter, a/k/a, voter, however, are a horse of a different color. They neither know, care, or suspect what is going on. All that they are indoctrinated with is, depending on which side of the fence they are on is: Republicans are good, Democrats are bad, or, Democrats are good, Republicans are bad. This is illustrated perfectly by Republicans, particularly those whom refer to themselves as Conservatives. Each election, they return the same candidates, whom have stabbed them in the back at each opportunity. And treat them as cheap whores that are to be discarded immediately after their services are finished.
This is very sad. They apparently don’t teach Texas history anymore as part of US history.
Can a Nebraska FREEPer tell us what the heck is going on with your unicameral legislature?
They are replacing American citizens with aliens....simple as that. They are voting us out so we can never vote them out.

The Uni-Scameral is projected to wrap up its session on Friday. Bills vetoed by the guv are being voted on before the session is over. Many of the senators are term limited gone in 2016 so they have nothing to lose. They tried a pay increase which the voters said “no” to when it went to the ballot, tried to increase the term from 4 to 6 years to gain 4 more years before being term limited out, etc.
Citizens constitute the “second house” of the legislature. A referendum can be initiated to repeal any law or bill that’s passed which may happen with the death penalty bill. The referendum would go to the voters at the next election and the change in law would go “on hold” until decided by the voters at the polls.
This sounds promising if the citizens have the will to save their state & family; and I’m not too sure that they do.
