Why Can’t We Simply Carry?

The so-called “mainstream” media likes to spin a scary narrative of lawlessness, even of anarchy, when “permitless carry” (sometimes called “constitutional carry”) is brought before a state legislature. When the media does this, whether through ignorance or bias, they’re simply ignoring the facts. For example, Vermont, which has long had permitless carry, has also long had one of the lowest violent crime rates in the nation.

States, nevertheless, can still be laboratories of democracy—even with politically incorrect gun laws. That is part of what’s going on with permitless carry. As of this writing, states with some legal form of permitless concealed carry include Alaska, Arizona, Kansas, Vermont and Wyoming. This, of course, doesn’t include the 26 states that broadly recognize the right to carry handguns openly (not concealed) without a permit.

It really is as simple as the header says. Of course we all know why "they" don't want folks having firearms. If I could only convince the NV legislature to introduce a permitless carry deal. Think of the reduction in red tape and the staff that works permitting. COST SAVINGS! Woo Hoo! But alas, even though the Assembly and Senate and Gov are "republicans", there still too much infighting.

I read your tagline and got nauseous. Thanks for the heads up about Perry. We all know if there were no guns there would be no violence. And we would be a peaceful people like the Roman Empire

Many msny people apparent carry. As per our country’s supreme law the U.S. Constitution, ..”the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”. Many other folks try to comply with whatever unconstitutional infringements may exist where they live In today’s racist, lawless, violent society (thanks Obama/Holder) many sheriffs and Chiefs of police are advising us to carry because we can’t count on them to protect us anymore.

‘Constitutional carry’. That’s the absolute best (and accurate) way to phrase it.

I have no desire to carry openly but I think we should be able to do so if we want.

I also agree that we should not have to grovel before government and ask for permission to exercise a constitutional right.

If one does have to live in a state which requires a permit, then Georgia is one of the best.

Be prepared. Perry's liberal supporters are currently remaining somewhat silent. He will be announcing his candidacy on June 4. Once he does, they will be out in force along with paid operatives to tell us how wrong we are about the man, how wonderful a conservative he is and how great a governor he has been.

Nothing can erase his liberal past. But that statement about Hillary isn't so far in his past, he made it less than 1 year ago. The man is as liberal as a Republican can be and should not receive consideration from any real conservative.

<< If I could only convince the NV legislature to introduce a permitless carry deal. >>

It’s more than the Legislature. All your CCW instructors have a lock on the government teat with a CCW permit system that generates students and income for their state approved courses. And, most of them are NRA instructors and the NRA who also benefits from a CCW system.

When the Arizona Citizens Defense League pushed for Constitutional Carry in Arizona, the instructors railed against it. The NRA was tepid.

Another group that doesn’t like Constitutional Carry are the many gun owners that bought into a government permission slip to carry a gun. They get this “I had to get a permit and everyone else should” attitude. They confuse “right” with “privilege.”

Bear means carry... as in "To Keep and Bear". Those are just other words for "To Own and Carry".

The reason we can't carry in all places in the USA is because the Right to Keep and Bear Arms have been infringed.
