FBI to probe whether crashed Amtrak train was hit or shot at

The FBI has been asked to investigate the possibility that the Amtrak train that crashed outside of Philadelphia was hit by a bullet or some other object.
According to the The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), an assistant conductor in the train’s café car claimed to have overheard a regional train engineer saying he had been “hit by a rock or shot at.”

Sorry if this story was already posted. When I searched I found lots of stories about the crash but none mentioning that the FBI started investigating.

It must have been one of those large capacity glock automatic fully jacketted hollowpoint cop killer train stopper bullets that you can buy at gun shows because of a pesky loophole.

I don’t buy it. This is the staged excuse to benefit all. It will help the engineer and Amtrak avoid responsibility.
Regardless, The train was speeding. The emergency brake was pulled, which I understand is entirely the wrong thing to do. He would have been better off trying to make the curve at the high speed. And the new safety feature was not turned on. So they can run but they cannot completely hide.
There is no justice in America any more. Those six police officers have been charged and this guy will probably walk free.

I understand the car rolled several times. That makes a lot more sense as an explanation for the damaged window and the concussion. Or it was rammed by another car.

I don’t know how much training he would have handling sabotage but the engineer may have become disoriented and forgotten where he was in the process trying to ‘outrun’ the bullet.

If the train was hit, the engineer may have panicked. Still running a curve at 50 mph curve at 106 mph is one helluva battleshort.

The brick crashed in, bounced forward into the throttle, causing the train to hit 106 mph, silly.
See? It’s all so simple!

I am not sure but I thought it was interesting the FBI was officially involved.
BTW have you ever seen some of the neighborhoods these trains run through? If an incompetent or inexperienced conductor thought he was in danger who knows what he might do..
