Boulder County District Attorney Stan Garnett ruled Thursday that the sheriff's deputy who shot and killed a 39-year-old kidnapping suspect near Eldorado Springs in April was justified, saying the shooting likely saved the lives of the suspect's two hostages. ...

Far as I’m concerned, anyone who takes a hostage has fully earned a bullet.
Eldorado Rocky Mountain Bullseye.
There’s a country song in there somewhere................................
Amazing shot. From the article:
“Boulder County sheriff’s Deputy Jeffrey Brunkow who was about 40 yards away had a view of Vang through the magnified scope of his department-issued rifle. When Brunkow saw Vang raise the handgun to the back of William Lor’s head, Brunkow fired one shot that went through a gap in the open door and the car frame and struck Vang in the head, killing him instantly.”
He’s lucky he didn’t shoot a mountain lion, otherwise he would have served 25 years hard labor!
Great shot. I’m guessing that the hostage was a bit spooked for a split second with the guy’s head exploding.
“Amazing shot.”
It really was. Not that far in the grand scheme of things, but the cop was taking a head shot at a live target a couple of feet from the hostages through a partially rolled down window, not to mention the cop had to be under tremendous pressure due to the incredible tenseness of the situation. Cop must have had nerves of steel.
BTW, I actually know the sheriff’s deputy who headed the sharpshooting instruction for the Boulder County Sheriff’s Department several years ago. Ironically, he was delighted when I volunteered to teach his 10 year old and 8 year old how to shoot .22 pistol (first time they had ever shot, too) while he and another deputy sheriff who was a mutual friend were sighting in new sniper rifles at my gun range.
His kids were totally amazing about how we they took instruction, and when I asked him about it, he said the discipline was the result of regular, professional martial arts lessons.
“alleged”. “suspect” Did they not see him have hostages and almost kill them? What’s this PC reporting? I know that legally a person is not guilty until proven in a court of law, but in reality, if you see this, and the police have to shoot him for his crimes, it seems ludicrous.
