Kayce M. Hagen is a pen name assumed by an active duty enlisted airman. She wrote the following words to capture her thoughts after attending mandatory annual training given by her bases Sexual Assault Response Coordination (SARC) office. Im publishing her letter here not just because it captures in visceral form a sentiment Ive heard repeatedly from airmen who are frustrated by increasingly tone-deaf and overwrought approaches to this issue, but also because I believe her input raises (or renews) two important questions. First, what is the current Sexual Assault Prevention program doing for the Air Force? Second, what is it doing to the Air Force? Kayces input explores these questions in a powerful way. Enjoy and respond. -Q.
Dear SARC,
I got up this morning as an Airman in the United States Air Force. I got up and I put on my uniform, I pulled back my hair, I looked in the mirror and an Airman looked back. A strong, confident military professional stared out of my bathroom mirror, and I met her eyes with pride. Then I came to your briefing. I came to your briefing and I listened to you talk to me, at times it seemed directly to me, about sexual assault. You talked about a lot of things, about rivers and bridges, you talked about saving people and victimization. In fact you talked for almost a full ninety minutes, and you disgusted me.
You made me a victim today, and I am nobodys victim. I am an American Airman in the most powerful Air Force in the world, and you made me into a helpless whore. A sensitive, defenseless woman who has no power to protect herself, who has nothing in common with the men she works with. You made me untouchable, and by doing that you made me a target.

Every month on “training day”, SARC training.
Just about every week in the base paper, 2nd page “editorial” about SARC...
It’s gotten to the point where almost to a person, the airmen have begun making it a joke...
I believe the USAF has passed the saturation point on this topic.
It isn’t easy being a woman in an officially feminist society.
Hey, Between this article and the one from Thomas Sowell today, we may have the critical positions necessary to respond to leftists.
Wow, a non-victim. How refreshing.
Thank you for posting this letter.
Ping to finally someone in the USAF that thinks PC is stupidity. Even the Secretary of the USAF is an idiot.
Kayce Hagen, I am proud to be a wingman with you. “Today you made me a victim, and I am nobody’s victim.” Very, very well stated.
Colonel, USAFR
Not new for any of the services. The USMC presentation of the first series of “Race Relations” classes in 1972 were enough to make you puke and received a great deal of very negative feedback at the time. They were condescending, accusatory, and full of fabrication and flat out lies...if you were Caucasian. Among the Marines you lived with in the barracks day to day you knew who was a Marine who would have your back as a brother Marine and who was just a “brother” with a racist chip on their shoulders.
This PC crap has been ongoing for years. It was constant point of tension throughout my AF career as well as my time as an enlisted Marine before that. This sounds similar to what I heard for years on active duty and I’ve been retired for over 20 years.
If you have to go about your daily duties worried about not offending another group, or being accused of something in some way or the other it detracts from the mission and unit cohesion.
If you don’t fight as a cohesive unit you certainly die in a cohesive group, all together.
< I don't recall any P.C. B.S. Could be that I was out before it started. (1963-1967). Yes, I'm old.
Yep, this came about in the early 70s after a series of incidents at various bases; one of the more publicized was at Minot AFB ND which ostensibly began as a complaint over the lack of black oriented hair products in the BX, of all things. The “training” crap began around 1972, along with Golden Flow to catch the stoners. It has morphed through numerous “causes” over the years with some recurring.
You missed the real dawn of training everyone in sensitivity to “your grievance or group goes here”.
EEO “training” was one of the primary reasons for my retiring in 2003...”taught” almost exclusively by black females or PC indoctrinated white females.
White males = evil.
One of the biggest lies now being heaped upon us is that traditional Bible believing Christians are now some of the most likely candidates to engage in sexual harassment because we adopt a more "conservative" viewpoint and are intolerant of a more modern approach to sexuality.
And if you don't believe me, I got the evidence to prove it.
Active Duty ping.
