God’s holy minister on climate.
Pope Francis warned “the powerful” that it was their responsibility to feed the planet and that environmental sinners will face God’s judgement.
The Guardian reported:
Pope Francis has warned the powerful of the Earth they will answer to God if they fail to protect the environment to ensure the world can feed its population.
The planet has enough food for all, but it seems that there is a lack of willingness to share it with everyone, Francis said at a mass to mark the opening of the general assembly of the Catholic charitable organisation Caritas.
We must do what we can so that everyone has something to eat, but we must also remind the powerful of the Earth that God will call them to judgment one day and there it will be revealed if they really tried to provide food for Him in every person and if they did what they could to preserve the environment so that it could produce this food.
The striking comments from the Argentinian pontiff came ahead of the upcoming publication of a papal encyclical on the ethical aspects of environmental issues that is eagerly awaited by campaigners for action to address global warming.
An encyclical is a statement of fundamental principles designed to guide Catholic teaching on a subject. It is issued in the form of a letter from the pope to bishops around the world.
Tune in next week, when Francis will announce that eating meat on Friday will send you straight to hell!
(young people won’t get the reference.)
I am aware that FreeRepublic has a very strong Catholic membership.
How many of you that are Catholics still view the Pope as an infallible man of God . . . at least this one. This one, that was elected by the school of Cardinals.
or might you think he is a little more toward the muslim mentality?
I must say, that displays a shocking lack of faith for a man who has devoted his entire adult life to the Priesthood.
“Pope Francis has warned the powerful of the Earth they will answer to God if they fail to protect the environment”
Which “god” is this clown referring to? Algore Manbearpig?
The Dope is talking out of his ass.
Because the Vatican has such a great track record when it comes to matters of science. /s
I have tried to have an open mind but honestly this Pope is a mistake. Some Popes are better than others. He’s old and soon there will be a new pope. That’s kind of the attitude you have to have as a Catholic. They come and they go.
Not all Marxists are Jesuits, but all Jesuits are Marxists.
The Church has survived worse, but he is pretty bad.
The Pope is not considered "infallable" in all matters.
Secondely, the use of "infallable" merely means he has the final say in authorative pronouncements ex cathedra.
Jorge Borgoglio is not the first incompetent to be elected Pope, and he will not be the last. Let us hope that is reign is short, and that his successor follows in the footsteps of John Paul II and Benedict XVI.
Pope wants to push this but not getting the pedophiles out of the church (especially in Europe
Good question.
Regardless, it is a little funny to see all the leftists “getting religion” from this leftist pope.
Sorry for the typo. IS should read HIS.
Just maybe he was pretending like some politicians to get what he wanted. Has he done anything that is Biblical? I can not remember.
With someone of the stature of the Pope saying these things... How does freedom even stand a chance, long term?
I used to be Catholic, but even though I’m not now, I still respected the Pope. Popes have been somewhat socialist for a long time, but this one has gone way overboard. Lately, I’ve begun to resent the constant negativity coming from Rome. No matter what we do, it’s not good enough. Bad enough we have a president constantly putting down this country. We now have a Pope doing the same.
