For 17 years, Juan Reinaldo Sanchez served as bodyguard to Fidel Castro. But when he became disillusioned with the Cuban dictators hypocrisy and tried to retire in 1994, Castro had him thrown in prison. Sanchez made 10 attempts to escape the island, finally making it to the US in 2008. Now he reveals all in his new book, The Double Life of Fidel Castro. In this excerpt, Sanchez exposes El Jefes privileged life. Modal Trigger
To Cubans, Fidel Castro presents himself as a man of the people, claiming to make only 900 pesos a month (about $38) and owning no property other than a modest fishermans hut somewhere on the coast.
In truth, El Jefe is worth hundreds of millions and owns 20 properties, including a chalet where he goes duck hunting every year and a private marina in the Bay of Pigs.

Whenever a politician promises to be for the people, know the people he’s talking about is himself.
Of course he is a hypocrite. You don’t expect him to live like a mere peasant, do you?
Fidel Castro is a true man of the people and the Vanguard of the Socialist Revolution.
The only Cubans whose lives are better off now then before the revolution are the ones who managed to escape the island (oh, and Castro’s cronies too).
Show me how life is better now in Cuba than 60 years ago. The standard of living on all the islands in the carribean (except Haiti) is better than Cuba.
Bill and Hillary were dead broke when they left office too. Commies are all alike.................
his brother is living in my friends confiscated house.... maybe he will go back and reclaim his property...
COMMIES ARE SCUMBAGS
CASTRO OBAMA CLINTOON
No wonder Obamahole loves this guy!!!
Makes the Clinton klhan jealous.

“Other than several foreign businessmen whose names I have forgotten and several handpicked Cuban ministers, the only visitors to the island I can recall were the Colombian president Alfonso López Michelsen (19741978), who came to spend a weekend there with his wife, Cecilia, around 1977 or 1978; the French businessman Gérard Bourgoin, aka the Chicken King, who came to visit in around 1990 at the time he was exporting his poultry producing know-how to the whole world; the owner of CNN, Ted Turner; the superstar presenter of the American channel ABC, Barbara Walters;”
Hmmmm....does anyone recall turner or walters reporting on this?
I see Hussein has a kindred spirit.
Perhaps they assume that when the revolution comes, they will get the same kind of benefits that Castro has reserved for himself.
It is more likely that they would get what Stalin gave to most of his supporters: a blindfold and a last cigarette.
In truth, El Jefe is worth hundreds of millions and owns 20 properties, including a chalet where he goes duck hunting every year and a private marina in the Bay of Pigs.
I can only imagine what Kim’s place looks like in North Korea and his lifestyle as well.
These evil dictators might as well enjoy their life of luxury on this earth. I have an idea that the after life they will share, won’t be as luxurious and cushy. Weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth, and begging for a drink of water - is their fate.
Typical behavior by lying hypocritical Communist leaders. Mao had procurers and harems of the fairest maidens, brought to him for inspection and ritual you don’t want to know. All the while lying blissful Utopian fairy tales to the proles. Why should Castro be any less? But it’s good to know the names of the capos and Quislings who were happy to play tyrant’s lap pet for a stroke between the ears. Ted Turner owns half of the west through trusts, him and Fidel on a secret island talking about “taking care of the little people,” it’s just too rich. What a movie, if there were honest movie makers around. Baba Wawa could interview them both, make it all into a parody docudrama like Spinal Tap.
Barbara Walters and Ted Turner? Both seemed like commies... anyone know for sure?
Kill Fidel, and Raul too.
Every year when the Forbes 400 (minimum net worth $400 million) comes out,Fidel is on that list to which of course he vehemently denies. Forget about every other money making device the leader of an island like Cuba could possibly generate. Just based on the estimated revenue of the world’s most exclusive cigar, Cohiba, Fidel is a very wealthy man, indeed.
