Inside Fidel Castro’s luxurious life on his secret island getaway
NY Post ^ | May 10, 2015 | Juan Reinaldo Sanchez

Posted on 05/10/2015 10:51:58 AM PDT by george76

For 17 years, Juan Reinaldo Sanchez served as bodyguard to Fidel Castro. But when he became disillusioned with the Cuban dictator’s hypocrisy and tried to retire in 1994, Castro had him thrown in prison. Sanchez made 10 attempts to escape the island, finally making it to the US in 2008. Now he reveals all in his new book, “The Double Life of Fidel Castro.” In this excerpt, Sanchez exposes “El Jefe’s” privileged life.

To Cubans, Fidel Castro presents himself as a man of the people, claiming to make only 900 pesos a month (about $38) and owning no property other than a modest “fisherman’s hut” somewhere on the coast.

In truth, El Jefe is worth hundreds of millions and owns 20 properties, including a chalet where he goes duck hunting every year and a private marina in the Bay of Pigs.

His main home is Punto Cero, where his family was kept hidden away. No one knew until recently that he had a wife, Dalia, with whom he had five sons, all with “A” names: Alexis, Alex, Alejandro, Antonio and Angelito. Even Fidel’s own brother, Raúl, did not meet them until the children were adults.

Few, meanwhile, know that Fidel has had at least three children out of wedlock, including one with his personal interpreter and longtime mistress, Juanita.

Castro may not be as ostentatious as Khadafy or Saddam Hussein, but he’s rich beyond most people’s dreams. His simple appearance is due more to laziness than austerity.

...

None of his siblings was ever invited to or set foot on Cayo Piedra... visitors to the island .. Ted Turner; .. Barbara Walters; and Erich Honecker, communist leader of the German Democratic Republic

Fidel is wearing out and his day of reckoning is fast approaching. God is not mocked.

Socialism and communism are the perfect soil for narcissists to advance themselves. Like magnets to iron, narcissists are drawn to whatever paths allow them to augment their personal importance, and to feed their narcissistic needs. Castro is just another narcissistic a*****e. There is an abundance of them in the world. What a great ‘gig’ for him. Promote a societal structure in which the ability of others to promote themselves through their own talents and efforts is repressed, and appoint yourself the savior of all the ‘little people’. A nice formula for total control and suppression of anyone more talented than you. Nirvana for a narcissist. The island and house are just accouterments.

Note that the article said visitors to the island were rare.

But he claimed two notable Americans visited: Ted Turner and Barbara Walters.

That’s okay.

Fidel will have nothing but misery in hell for eternity. And none of what he had here will matter one iota there.

I doubt Ted Turner and Barbara Walters ever saw it.

The impression one gets of Cuba is a decrepit country that’s a museum to the failure of Communism.

Of course, don’t expect those who idolize the Castro Brothers to see what they’ve done to the country.

The Hollywood elite’s worship of this SOB has always been an extremely repulsive spectacle. What would I give to have anyone of them to really experience life there with the jails, etc, sort of like the late Vic Morrow’s sequence in the 1983 “Twilight Zone” movie (yes I know Morrow died accidentally during the production of that part of the movie).
