10 Reasons Ted Cruz Would Make a Great President
NewsMax ^ | Monday, 30 Mar 2015

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz became the first candidate last week to announce his intention to seek the 2016 Republican nomination. Here are 10 reasons Cruz, who's already drawing praise from the conservative base, would make a great president.

1. Cruz has strong Tea Party support, which could stimulate renewed grassroots participation, engaging more voters in the democratic process.

2. Cruz is a leader who is not afraid to stand on principle, fight difficult fights, speak out for what he believes in, and buck Washington politics. His high-profile battles in the Senate over Obamacare and immigration serve as two examples.

3. He's "off-the-charts" brilliant, according to his former law professor at Harvard, liberal Alan Dershowitz.

4. Cruz has a clear vision for the country, taking strong positions on a number of issues. For example, he said in his speech to launch his bid, "Imagine abolishing the IRS . . . Imagine a president that finally, finally, finally secures our borders . . . instead of a federal government that seeks to dictate school curriculum through Common Core. Imagine repealing every word of Common Core."

5. Cruz, as an American Exceptionalist, will look to restore the country's standing on the international stage.

6. He has a strong legal background and, as a defender of the Constitution, he will look to realign the role and scope of the executive branch after years of executive overreach under President Barack Obama. Cruz earned his law degree at Harvard University and clerked for Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist.

7. Cruz will likely draw strong support from the Hispanic community, representing a unifying cultural force for the country.

"If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures." - Alexander Hamilton

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldn’t make any sense at all." -- President Ronald Reagan

"A thing moderately good is not so good as it ought to be. Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice." - Thomas Paine 1792

"It does not take a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men." - Samuel Adams

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

I don’t like the term “American Exceptionalism or in this case Exceptionalist..

Romney missed used it in 2012..most people didn’t know just what he meant but it wasn’t what they thought it meant..

Something like the US has the moral right on the world stage to act like the mighty good guys.

MAYBE, it depends on who’s in charge here and what they believe.

Yet another reason to come out and vote for him!

Free trade makes us all rich! It is the opposite of liberalism!

Here's a protectionist site's quotation of the senator's position:

Thank you for sharing your thoughts regarding trade policy. Input from fellow Texans significantly informs my decision-making and empowers me to better represent the state. I especially appreciate your patience awaiting a response as we established our office and mail system.

One of my top priorities as your Senator is to promote policies that facilitate economic growth and opportunities. An important component of a growing economy is the freedom to trade. Free trade creates a competitive marketplace, spurring innovation and investment. We benefit with more access to higher quality goods and services for less. We see jobs created and our incomes go further due to greater economic productivity.

Under President Obama, annual economic growth is anemic and job growth is stagnant. I hope the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) produce agreements that reduce government-created barriers to trade, enabling increased prosperity for all involved. More economic growth will expand opportunity to those working to climb the economic ladder and achieve the American Dream.

Thank you for sharing your views with me. Please feel free to contact me in the future about any issue important to your family. It is an honor to serve you and the people of Texas.

For Liberty,
Senator Ted Cruz

For those of you in Rio Linda, protectionists are the ones who got the Great Depression rolling. Progressives [for those of you in Rio Linda, they would be the Democrat Party, the MSM, the GOP-e, and your local school system] are the ones who kept it rolling until interrupted by Hitler and Tojo.
