Rioters in Milan smash shopfronts, throw smoke bombs as Expo opens

Milan has been waiting since 2008 for this day and now it has finally come—but takeoff for the World Expo 2015 looks to be overshadowed by violent protests.
The turnstiles and doors officially opened on Friday in Italy's commercial and fashion capital.
But opening day excitement for the six-month-long commercial event wasn't necessarily present among the crowds on Friday. The wet weather may have dampened the number of visitors to the event on its first day—with noticeably empty entrances and security checkpoints.
Meanwhile, thousands of protesters marched through the streets of Milan behind a banner reading "No Expo, Eat the Rich," according to Reuters.

I just think this crap is FUNNY AS HELL. I do realize that it is not fun to be on the receiving end of property destruction - but the idea of some ‘convention’ getting the European youth lit up when they could care less about having to live under Sharia Law within 2 decades just floors me.

My Dad was stationed in Naples in the mid 1960’s. Went back thirty years later. Things had changed & not for the better.
If I want to visit Italy now, I will
1. Watch an Italian cooking video & prepare the dish at home. Grow my own basil & make my own pesto.
2. Watch a Sophia Loren movie (ancora la simpatica!).
3. Clean my Luigi Franchi O/U shotgun.
4. Take my Beretta pistol to the range.
5. Enjoy a glass of Soave Bolla.
6. Remember my time in Italy when it was a different place & the only demonstrations were for the national soccer team (Forza Italia!)
