Obama Administration Says Non-Profit Status ‘Going to Be an Issue’ for Religious Schools

s the Obama administration about to wage war on religious schools?

One of the more startling portions of oral arguments today at the Supreme Court was the willingness of the Obama administration’s Solicitor General Donald Verrilli, to admit that religious schools that affirm marriage as the union of a man and a woman may lose their non-profit tax-exempt status if marriage is redefined.

Justice Samuel Alito asked Verrilli whether a religious school that believed marriage was the union of husband and wife would lose their non-profit tax status.

The solicitor general answered: “It’s certainly going to be an issue. I don’t deny that. I don’t deny that, Justice Alito. It is it is going to be an issue.”

I've been warning for 2 or 3 years now that ANY church that doesn't perform 'gay marriage' will lose its tax exempt status arguing it is similar to interracial marriage cases.

Today, the solicitor admitted as much.

This means each church will have to decide: Follow God or close your doors!

If religious schools do not turn a profit, then there is nothing to tax.

Or drop their tax exempt status.

Follow God or close your doors!

Not really. Just do not do anything taxable.

That’s not the only issue, if you donate to your church you will not be able to take a charitable contribution deduction off your taxes.

The gaystapo will not be happy until everyone is forced to publicly celebrate their perversion.

But the non profit status of the CLinton’s foundation that took in $149 million and paid out less than 6% in actual benefits will not be questioned.

When sodomy became legal in California, Bob Hope said he was leaving before it became mandatory.

If they can drop your non-profit status over this, why didn’t they do it over abortion?

Correct. But the churches will then be free to advocate for political causes openly. That is not a can or worms the Obama administration will open lightly.

I wonder if this will actually galvanize the liberal Catholics on the Supreme Court - that it isn’t equal protection for homosexuals but a higher status in the law for a viewpoint and lifestyle.

MARRIAGE.

Churches that refuse to perform them will lose the status.

This happened to churches that refused interracial marriages and the U.S. Supreme Court upheld that.

How do you operate a church completely outside the law?

No tax deductions for donations.

Millions owed in back taxes.

They’d destroy the Christian church in America.
