Marco Rubio-Jeb Bush alliance sours in GOP primary faceoff

NASHUA, N.H. (AP) — Ties between Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, political allies for more than a decade, are fraying as the Republican presidential campaign picks up. In public, mentor Bush and protege Rubio have avoided criticizing each other since Rubio announced his candidacy.

But Bush allies have started quietly spreading negative information about Rubio's record. Also, supporters of the two Miami politicians are drawing contrasts between Rubio, a 43-year-old son of Cuban immigrants, and 62-year-old Bush, a member of one of the nation's most powerful political dynasties.

"Sparks are going to fly," said Al Cardenas, a Bush adviser who is also close to Rubio. "For the first time in our country's history you've got two guys from the same town in the same state from same party running in the same primary."

Good pick, I am sure they will put on a good show.

Bush said in private, “Hey! Rubio, clear the deck for me of these conservative fools.”

They are both trying to be the biggest RINO in the field.

I’m continuing to dislike all the Bush people, men and women. And I’m not a supporter of Rubio even.

Sure he isn’t just trying to pitch himself as Jebby’s veep pick? Now wouldn’t that be all dandy and sweet!

I think Rubio wants to be Jeb’s veep and Jeb just doesn’t want him.

Bush and Walker are currently neck and neck with Cruz fast on their heels.

No one else even matters.

Rubio has no support and Paul is capped out in the high single digits with only the support of the hard core Ron Paul holdouts. The rest of the field is basically a joke with maybe the exception of Perry (if he has been taking debating lessons for the past 3 years)

Debate-wise, I think Cruz and Perry will wipe the deck. Walker might do a decent three-star job.

Its funny. I think Rubio is supposed to dilute Cruz’s support but instead he is cutting into Bush.

Its Cruz or Cruz. Accept no substitutes.

Jeb is not any good at the "aw shucks" demeanor. The rest of the family had us somewhat fooled.

It's a three-way tie: Jeb, ChrisChristie, and hillary could all conceivably be worse presidents than Obama is. Elitist jerks, all three of them.

Rand Paul On Shutdown: "Even Though It Appeared I Was Participating In It, It Was A Dumb Idea"
I said throughout the whole battle that shutting down the government was a dumb idea. Even though it did appear as if I was participating in it, I said it was a dumb idea. And the reason I voted for it, though, is that it's a conundrum. Here's the conundrum. We have a $17 trillion debt and people at home tell me you can't give the president a blank check. We just can't keep raising the debt ceiling without conditions. So unconditionally raising the debt ceiling, nobody at home wants me to vote for that and I can't vote for that. But the conundrum is if I don't we do approach these deadlines. So there is an impasse. In 2011, though, we had this impasse and the president did negotiate. We got the sequester. If we were to extend the sequester from discretionary spending to all the entitlements we would actually fix our problem within a few years.

Rand Paul: Time for GOP to soften war stance
...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said.

Rand Paul's immigration speech
...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

Rand Paul calls on conservatives to embrace immigration reform
Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... [and the buried lead] "Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers...

Rubio, Grahamnesty, Perry, etc. are being paid to run by The Cheap Labor Express to split up the votes of conservatives to make sure we do not nominate Ted Cruz.

The RNC has already been paid to produce an amnesty candidate. The cheap labor importers do not want us to elect anyone who will stop the invasion/cheap labor importation.

Rubio is a duplicitous liar. He lied to get elected, he lied about what was in his Gang’s bill, he will turn against the citizens if elected. He cannot be trusted at all.

Finally the RINOs are splitting the RINO vote. And we also have Christie and Graham.

So far, so good.

I think that rule goes out the window a bit with the Bushies by virtue of having a couple of states to call “home”, Jeb is a Texas native which is where his brother was governor and his father served in the House of Reps.

Jeb took an interest in Rubio, but that was probably for his own interests, not Rubio’s. I think perhaps it is the case that Rubio may not understand that (or maybe more accurately, WANT to understand this!).

Translation: Rubio was supposed to draw Conservative votes away from Cruz. Instead, he is drawing more from Jeb than from Ted. Hence, the Bushes and Rove are pissed!
