Republicans are most enthusiastic about the prospects of nominating Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker for president, a new HuffPost/YouGov poll finds, but they're open to rallying around a number of potential candidates--with the possible exception of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.
Members of the party are generally optimistic that whoever emerges from the crowded field of prospects will succeed. Three-quarters of Republicans predict their party will win back the presidency next year, and most look favorably on several of the politicians fighting for the nomination.
Walker generated the most excitement of the six candidates tested, with 45 percent saying they'd be enthusiastic to rally behind him, and just 8 percent reporting they'd feel negatively if he were nominated.
That puts Walker about on par with Hillary Clinton, whom 44 percent of Democrats said they'd be enthusiastic to back.
Republicans are more likely to be unsure of their opinions about Walker and his rivals than Democrats are about Clinton--and, for the most part, Republicans who aren't positive about one of their candidates are more likely to say they're undecided than to express a negative sentiment. Fewer than 20 percent said they'd be dissatisfied or upset with Rubio, Cruz, Paul, Carson or Walker.
The exception to that trend is Bush. While he's polled at or above Walker's level in many primary matchups, he also garners far more antipathy than his rivals. Just 42 percent of Republicans said they'd be enthusiastic or satisfied if he were nominated, while 44 percent said they'd be dissatisfied or upset.
Both support for Walker and disdain for Bush were accentuated among the GOP's base, including those who described themselves as conservative or as a member of the tea party. Seventy-nine percent of tea party members said they'd be enthusiastic about a Walker candidacy, while just 3 percent said the same of Bush.............

Add to that the Democrat battering at 2014 midterms .....
and, more importantly, what it means for 2016:
<><> Southern Democrats control not a single governorship, US senator or legislative chamber,
<><> Democrat losses stretch from the Carolinas westward to Texas,
<><> 110 Of 140 Southern States election districts went Republican.
<><> Ark and Ill (Clinton hometowns) have Repub governors---important in a prez race b/c guvs control party machinery.
<><> Republicans unified control: gov/legislature in 23 states (Ntl Conference of State Legislatures factoid).
<><> Repub governorships: Florida, Tx, Ill, Ohio, Mich, MD, Wisconsin, NC, GA, Mass.
=====================================================
Repub governors are crucial in a prez race b/c they control party machinery. Repub governors mean Repub Secy's of State.....who oversee precincts and rule on voter fraud.
Put a clean, fresh new towel out, and next to it, a crumpled, cold, soggy towel with poo stains all over it and see which one people go for.
Nobody wants Jeb. He's yesterday's poos.

How DELICIOUS and insightful.
This (and the other link visual) would make a great “Groundhog Day” November 2016!
Thank you. They are priceless.
Believe me,
I been following Walkers battles since 2011 and been rooting for him and rejoiced every-time he kicked Dems asses.
In fact I watched these MSNBC live to see their reactions to their own defeats in both those races.
Six plus years of Obama and nearly two more left we must live through.
I have had more than enough of my fill of losing to Obama.
I am still rooting for Walker, I think he has what it takes to beat the Jeb/Hillary team.
Well, watching those videos made my day.
Walker has the right stuff.
I watched each of those MSNBC segments live on those election nights 2012 and 2014, and DVRed them too.
I had to see their reactions after both times after them predicting and celebrating Walkers upcoming defeats.
Walker has shown himself to be a champion chess player planning many moves ahead of libs.
I don’t think we are divided on Jeb Bush. Most of us don’t want him at all. We think someone has to be brain dead stupid to think he has any sort of chance.
> And exactly how is this going to happen? Are you saying liking Cruz or Walker at this point is unproductive? Does it make you think that not coalescing around just one of the two will enable Jeb Bush or something?
Heck no. I’m voting Cruz. I’m talking about both being such good choices that the vote gets split anf all the lefties getting behind just one like Hillary and putting her in office over the others because of it.
Walker’s worth fighting for...
I, too, am divided over Jeb Bush.
Divided as to whether I want him to go away mad, or just go away.
Republicans?
Coming from the Huffington, Puffington Post, it would appear to be the democrats wish list, not Republican enthusiasm.
The enthusiasm points only to Cruz, whose supporters have already gathered 37 million since April 1.
.
Scott Walker is squishy on immigration but I believe he will do the right thing if elected president. Ted Cruz is better but Scott Walker is more electable.
So I pray that The HildeBeast loses and Scott Walker gets inaugurated January 2015
Actually the HildeBeast is going to flop bad and the finals will be Martin O’Malley, who Obama backs, versus Scott Walker
.
Its between Cruz and Fiorina, not Walker or Bush.
I’d love to see a Cruz/Fiorina administration; that would be truly dynamic.
.
.
If Walker is in any way electable, why does he not have any money behind him yet?
He might be an acceptable Veep, if he is so inclined.
.
.
Let’s just pull Jeb’s life support now.
He can be the “Shiavo” candidate.
.
.
>> “How does a contest between Walker and Cruz in the primary help the democrats?” <<
.
It helps them wet their pants daily!
Cruz and Walker both outshine anything the dems can offer by several orders of magnitude.
.
.
>> “No whiny hissy fits over being asked questions by the MSM in interviews.” <<
.
But he has been weak on offering solid answers to reporters’ questions. That seems to be his chief Achilles Heel.
