then she should stay in the hippie state she came from

my first morning in San francisco I was at the office around 7:30a and the CEO showed up at 8a. I was waiting for the CTO. he didn’t show until 9:15a. he took me downstairs to the cafe so we could talk while he got a coffee. while we sat at the table, it became apparent he was stoned. I asked him point blank if he was stoned (I had spent the previous 12 yrs doing DoD work between washdc and Boston. ‘impaired’ personnel are not tolerated). he admitted he was stoned and proceeded to tell me of the ‘coffee shops’ for people with ‘medical issues’. I asked what his ‘medical issue’ was. he said, with a straight face... stress. I kid you not.

I replaced him as CTO within 10 days.

I have no time for stoned out morons or anyone promoting their line of bs.

who the hell is advocating going to work stoned, drunk, high or whatever. You’re way off point making straw man arguments just because you have a hatred for pot.

You probably think Reefer Madness was a documentary.

As with alcohol, there is no place for even casual use in the workplace. it's not only a efficiency issue, it's a huge stinking pile of liability and any employer should be able to instantly can an employee for being under the influence at work.

That being said, getting stoned or drunk on your own time shouldn't be anyone elses business but your own.

And for the record, I did drugs one time. I smoked some pot in college with my roommate. That was over 20 years ago. It was a bad experience I don't have any desire to repeat it, nor do I have any desire to demand other people be prohibited from using it if they decide to do so on their own personal time.

I have to agree. An obviously stoned/drunk executive really annoys me, especially when I need them to make decisions. Stress is real tho, but the only compelling case I've ever heard for that argument was a guy who had unloaded bombs every day when he was in Vietnam. In the business world he was a very twitchy guy when not medicated.
