The Russian government under Putin just put a ban on internet pornography, just another indication as to the Christian influence that is dominating Russian society (and rightfully so). According to the report:
A Russian court has instructed Roskomnadzor, the country’s state-controlled Internet watchdog, to block 136 websites hosting “pornographic material” under the terms of international conventions signed in 1910 and 1923. Vague language in the ruling, first reported by the newspaper Izvestia, means all Internet pornography could soon be illegal in Russia.
The ruling comes after a district attorney in Tartarstan’s Apastovksy district cited the regulations put in place in the early 20th Century in Czarist Russia and then the USSR, respectively. All of the websites on the list, including some of the most frequently visited in the world, must be blocked within the next three days, Global Voices Online reported.
The court banned the illegal distribution of pornography, though it failed to precisely define what “legal distribution” of pornography is, meaning millions of other Russian pornography websites could soon be knocked offline as well.
This restriction on Internet activity is just the latest example of Internet crackdowns in Russia since Vladimir Putin returned to the presidency in 2012. The Kremlin recently enacted a “law on bloggers” that forces popular online writers to register their home address with the government, offers a bounty for anyone able to crack the increasingly popular Tor anonymity software and is forcing Western technology companies to collect and provide information on Russian Internet users.

I may be wrong here, but this may not be a way of stopping porn as it may be a way of arresting whoever they want.
That’s not germaine to the fact that Putin’s decree will have unintended consequences that usually occur when statists attempt to regulate markets.
But, just imagine what would happen to internet speeds if porn were eliminated. People would see a 400% increase in bandwidth. LOL
A lot of pornography is produced in Russia
Just ask the spooks at the NSA. They (via DARPA) helped develop TOR and still actively support it. You can bet your bottom dollar they know how to crack it.
Internet porn is actually responsible for pioneering secure online payment processing, HD flash video, and overall online security from viruses and malware.
I’m not arguing in favor of or defending porn. But I trust the perverts more than I do corrupt statists who want to use porn (like “sensible” gun control) as a vehicle to control people’s lives.
Those who like the idea of “banning porn” will really love it when they ban anonymous web message boards like FR. It’s a slippery slope, away from this concept called “freedom”...
Meanwhile Putin and his oligarch buddies have hot and cold running hookers, 24-7.
That was my exact first thought. Porn is filth to be sure, but be careful of applauding limitations on others because the next ones might be on you.

I don’t care for Putin and some elements of Russian culture and character.
But drawing a line on homosexuality and pornography is appropriate and necessary. The 1st and 14th Amendments have been abused, distorted and made a mockery to allow these depravities.
We need a structural amendment in our constitution that allows 3/5’s of states to repeal and void decisions and rulings from all branches of federal government.
Although he is a crook, murderer, and all-around thug, Putin and his government care about the survival of their society. Our government does not.
