The Kenyan government has given the UN three months to relocate the world's largest refugee camp over the border to Somalia. Nairobi has vowed a tough response following the recent massacre by Somali jihadists.

The United Nations Dadaab camp in northeast Kenya houses hundreds of thousands of refugees from war-torn Somalia, and authorities have in the past accused Islamists of hiding within the camp.

"We have asked the UNHCR to relocate the refugees in three months, failure to which we shall relocate them ourselves," Deputy President William Ruto said in a statement on Saturday, adding that the government will secure the country "at whatever cost."

Somalia has a population density like Colorado, a climate like California and over 2000 miles of coastline astride one of the busiest trade routes in the world. Why should they be sending refugees anywhere?

Italians ran the place better under Mussolini. Think about that.

Instead, Kenya should surround it with a double fence, with guard towers well off the corners, and rapid-response to deal with breakouts. In fact, the fenced area should be much larger than the current camp, and Kenya should welcome more refugees -- but offer nice rewards (including real housing somewhere nice, well removed from the camp) for turning in jihadis operating in the camp.

I still like my earlier idea -- moving all-in, and annihilating the entire population of the failed state of Somalia.
