Of course not. But my point is, even if it declared a “civil right,” pastors are not (and have never been) obligated to perform every marriage that is permissible as a “civil right.”

When he was fighting,m I don't think there were any known communists involved, Cruz was on the side of Castro, and was jailed and tortured by Batista.

Jesus already told us how to make this choice. "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's and unto God the things that are God's." The very few things that are Caesar's include tax dollars. The things that are God's include just about everything else, including our absolute loyalty and obedience.

Prison is the only acceptable answer if those are the choices. Fortunately, the Bill of Rights gives us the power to select a third option if FedGov attempts to violate the First Amendment.

Agreed. I don’t believe a clergy can be forced to marry ANYONE. Some clergy have standards the couple must meet, whether that is months of counseling or personality tests, or even his feeling that this is a good Union. Orthodox Jewish rabbis will not marry to someone not Jewish by birth or orthodox conversion.

Gays will find clergy to marry them. (I don’t know about Islam though)

This is a stupid tyrannical quest if it gets started.

I have a lawyer friend that is very much against gay marriage. And as hard as it is to see some churches allow gay marriage, he has said the same thing.

“Whether our church decides or not, the day is soon coming when all churches will need to perform gay weddings by law.”

With all due respect to Pastor Cruz, he needs to learn Section 1 of the 14th Amendment.

More specifically, while Christians are complaining that their 1st Amendment protections are being trampled on, they’re not pointing out that Section 1 of 14th Amendment prohibits the states as well from abridging their constitutionally enumerated protections.

14th Amendment, Section 1:

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States [emphasis added]; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Note that the “privileges or immunities” term which John Bingham, the main author of Section 1, used in that section is just another way to refer to constitutionally enumerated rights, most of these well-known rights, including 1st Amendment-protected freedom of religious expression, listed in the Bill of Rights.

In fact, the states have never amended the Constitution to expressly protect LGBT issues. So citizens who value their freedom of religious expression need to learn to argue the following. Pro-gay activist states are unthinkingly using equal protections policies to bully Christians in the name of protecting constitutionally unprotected gay “rights.”

Of course, none of this would be an issue, if the homosexual s were content with having won the battle over civil secular marriage in our society. It will only happen if they start suing churches over homosexual marriage.

There is no contentment for these people. They are driven by internal Demons and it is impossible to assuage their thirst for more affirmation. They must constantly be assured that they are "normal" because they so desperately want affirmation. They don't want to be regarded as "sick".

Some people will laugh at this. But there used to be a time when killing a near born baby ( the one near full term ) was unthinkable.

By their second party platform, 1974, right after Wade v Roe, libertarians were already pushing for full term abortion, in 1972 they had written in a 100 day period, which they dropped in the 1974 platform.

It doesn’t look like Traditional-Values Christians are going to get much help from the GOP. Only six of 54 Republican members of the U.S. Senate signed a pro-traditional marriage legal brief to the U.S. Supreme Court that was submitted on Friday, April 3. TED CRUZ was one of the five.

Interfaith and interracial marriage is a natural given and no concern of government...and it isn't.
Redefining marriage to accommodate Far Left Wing deviants will require government interloping.

I think the same thing is likely to happen here. Even if the Supreme Court rules that it is unconstitutional for a state to prohibit same-sex marriage, I don't think that any court would force a pastor to perform a same-sex marriage.

After they punish people for refusing to arrange flowers or bake a cake for a "gay" wedding, you don't think they will force people to perform same sex "marriage"?

And what makes you believe the coercive power of leftist judges won't go so far?

The whole gay “marriage” thing is about the left pushing Christians to the limits of their tolerance to a point of resistance, then criminalizing that resistance.

The whole point and goal all along is the criminalization of Christian belief.

And there it is. I shan't be surprised to see a Christian Kristallnacht coming in the not so distant future. They are already laying the ground work for it.

Twenty years ago did you think that same-sex marriage would one day be a "civil right?"

I told a friend so over thirty years ago. About eight years ago he told me that he used to think all that stuff I told him was just over the top nonsense, but now he realizes I was right all along.
