Yesterday, up on the stair,
I saw a rape that wasn't there,
It wasn't there again today!
Oh why, oh why did it go away ...
From the Duke lacrosse team, the Columbia mattress girl and the University of Virginia, the left has not been able to produce one actual rape on a college campus. It's beginning to look as if the rape of the Sabine women never happened, either. Someone's going to have to go back and investigate.
The big finale to the latest college rape fable, Rolling Stone's whimsical "A Rape on Campus," about a fraternity gang rape at the University of Virginia that never happened, is the Columbia Journalism Review's "investigation" of the story, released Sunday night. It's more of a house of mirrors than a finale, inasmuch as CJR's report is so preposterous that it demands its own investigation.
The CJR treats "reporting" as if it is some sort of learned craft, requiring years of study, as opposed to basic common sense. For example, if someone has an incredible story that he's dying for you to publicize, but loses interest every time you try to confirm any of the facts, a normal person would say: Oh, that's because it's probably a lie.

How about not allowing reporters to go off on politically driven crusades against liberal hate-objects, like fraternities, the military and athletes? How about not basing entire stories on the uncorroborated dream sequences of fantasists
Whaddya want to do ? Put 99% of the media out of business ?
It’s Tawana Brawley Syndrome. It’s all about victimhood and attention seeking.
No.
It reminds me of the wailing and gnashing of teeth — magnified by booming national coverage for weeks — about how blacks were denied accessed to polling places in Florida in 2000.
OMG! OMG! OMG! FLORIDA IS DENYING THE RIGHT TO VOTE TO AFRICAN-AMERICANS! OMG! OMG! OMG!
And yet, buried under the glacier of loudly frozen crocodile tears, not a single instance of a black person turned away from a polling place was ever uncovered, mentioned or alluded to. Not a single voter-denied was named. Not one. In the whole state of Florida. During the whole time the national media was blaring this “news”. Not one. Not a single, solitary case.
Fake But Accurate is the Watchword of Our Age.

Fauxchontas took an axe, gave the Constitution 40 wacks....
I remember reading that because a police car (doing a normal patrol) was seen within a few blocks of a polling place where a lot of blacks were voting, THE POLICE WERE TURNING AWAY BLACK VOTERS!!! That’s how easy it is to whip up hysteria in the black community.
Ann neglected to mention that cow, Lena Dunham.
Clearly, Jackie is a young woman with only a tentative grip on reality. She should be institutionalized for her own safety.
Liberals live in an Orwellian world where truth doesn’t matter as much as the “right narrative” and facts can be conveniently dropped into a “memory hole” by the lapdog media. I now think of Orwell’s novel, 1984, was a prophesy of the Obama administration.
My niece is a freshman in a big state school in PA, and I couldn’t believe the indoctrination about rape to which she’s been subjected. Girls/women are told that no matter how much they incapacitate themselves with drink/drugs, no matter how they compromise their safety by going to strange places with strangers, they are not responsible in any way for their own safety.
the WAR on white men .... ted kennedy logged the first and only victim in the dem war on women
Why excerpt the column?
Habit.... I excerpt everything.
The left is currently pushing ‘continuous affrmative consent’.
Watch the ‘sexual assault committee’ for Louisiana and weep.
The nation is doomed.

I take exception with your assertion that Ted's girlfriend, Mary Jo, was the "first and only victim of the dem war on women." Clinton, himself, was responsible for a long string of them. And, there are legions more we've not mentioned.
