When the Wisconsin Senate gathered in June of 2011 to take up a bill allowing the state's citizens to carry concealed weapons, protesters around the Capitol building were still in a state of high dudgeon. As a result, Republicans were accused of "rushing" through "socially divisive" bills such as concealed carry and voter identification through the legislative process while the state's attention was focused elsewhere.

Predictions of shootouts at every minor accident and a return to the “wild west” were used as lib propaganda in every state where concealed carry was jntroduced. More Democrat lies and scare tactics.
Michigan got it as a rider to a budget bill that had to be passed in its entirety.
Catastrophe predicted, of course. But, several years later even Jennifer Granholm, then Governor, admitted she was wrong.
The people most upset by concealed carry are the dead and wounded criminal robbers, attackers, and assorted criminals and their surviving families who were helping them “turn their lives around.”
And when Mississippi went truly “Constitutional Open Carry”, the howls about it turning into the old West with thousands of guns everywhere and shootouts galore, did not occur. I still seldom see folks carrying openly (I do on occasion to judge reactions and haven’t had one person become afraid or confrontational) and when I do, the rest of the folks don’t seem to pay any special attention. A guy in Wal Mart had a pistol on his hip the other day and the checkout gal asked if he was a private detective because he was dressed in slacks/shirt/tie and he responded that he was just a regular citizen. She smiled and said, “oh...OK” and went about her business - no apparent trauma.

That says it all.
The bottom line: allowing guns in the hands of respectable, law abiding citizens has a tendency to reduce the number of incidents of criminals actually using guns against unarmed citizens such that the net number of incidents where people are killed or maimed by guns actually decreases overall - in spite of the accidental injuries or deaths due to firearm use - is worth allowing law abiding citizens to carry firearms.
And it’s nowhere near breakeven, as proven by FBI statistics everywhere that the citizens have been given back their 2nd amendment rights - even in Illinois.
...It is bad enough if you happen to be a police officer and if you want to or not are forced by circumstances beyond your control to use your gun, and what all comes afterwards.
It is even worse if you happen to be an individual and happen to use your CC privilege in a wrongful manner, it probably will be the first and last time you ever see and use a gun again. Not to mention that you will be spending a good part of your life Concealed from real life and the rest of the world.
Once again thats my take and worth considering, Saintgermaine
I would add terrorists who want to victimize large numbers of people in crowded places like malls, that now are unable to be sure that nobody will shoot back. As well as tyrants, who cannot control people with impunity as he/she wishes.
One more time for all the hoplophobes [people with an unreasoning fear of weapons]:
