Nigel Farage: Not un-Christian to stop treatment of foreign-born HIV patients
Daily Telegraph ^

Nigel Farage has said his comments about ‘HIV tourists’ are perfectly compatible with a religious outlook, claiming that it is “a sensible Christian thing to look after your family and your own community first”. The UKIP leader spoke out on the topic of Christianity over the Easter weekend, after his criticism of foreign-born HIV patients receiving treatment under the NHS during the party leaders’ election debate was condemned as intolerant, xenophobic and lacking in basic human charity. Mr Farage had claimed that 60 per of the 7,000 HIV annual diagnoses in the UK involved “health tourists” who travel to Britain to receive retroviral drug treatment at a cost up to £25,000-per-year. His comments provoked widespread criticism, with Leanne Wood, the Plaid Cymru leader, accusing him of “dangerous scaremongering”. She was applauded by the studio audience after telling him during last Thursday’s party leaders’ debate: “You should be ashamed of yourself.”

Ultimately the compassionate thing to do is cut these AIDS patients off from the free drug treatments....

Then, they will be forced to confront the fact that their behavior is responsible for their disease. Having a cheap and easily accessible drug therapy for AIDS only encourages more of the behavior that spreads the disease.

Yes, he is right. That treatment is expensive and will be ongoing. One has to establish boundaries of some sort. Maybe someone like a Richard Branson, the British Billionaire founder of Virgin records and airline could fund something like this for foreigners. Even then, Branson would have to establish some limitations on numbers accepted for full coverage and at what rates. Meanwhile, there are many other diseases just as deserving of attention.

“a sensible Christian thing to look after your family and your own community first”. The UKIP leader spoke out on the topic of Christianity over the Easter weekend,

I agree with this 100%. It's the same with welfare. Let the freeloaders get their own jobs, because we need to support our own families first.

“You should be ashamed of yourself.”

Why? He's not a fag with HIV. He didn't give it to them. It isn't his problem, nor is it anyone elses. Let the fags pay for it. They started it!

Sounds like he’s MAKING HIS MOVE. Good timing on his part...no need to start early.

Being under treatment means that they live longer, while still being contagious. This lets the disease spread further.

I’m liking Farage more and more.

What obligation does Britain have to foreigners who abuse the Native born Brits and steal from the public welfare tab?

How about none? I wish they’d kick these parasites out of there already. Britian is looking more and more like Damascus or Karachi by the day.

I wonder if Farage and Cruz are talking to one another behind the scenes. Two no-BS fellows coming along at the same time.

With luck, they'll become the Reagan and Thatcher of their generation.

If you’re on a ship that sinks and you get your family of 4 into a life raft that can only hold 4 people, are you obliged as a Christian to let strangers into the boat? How about if you paid for, built, and brought the boat with you? How about if those strangers caused the ship to sink?

Are you obliged as a Christian to be self-destructive?

When does “charity” become suicidal? Christians are most certainly NOT supposed to commit suicide.
