I think all but the top 2 or 3 should drop out, IMO, most of them are not serving any purpose at all

Drop out? They haven't even entered the race.

I know! it’s so funny that the majority of people dont seem to grap that Cruz is the ONLY ONE actually in the race at the moment.

Why Jeb Bush is as high as he is, is a total mystery to me. Name recognition is one hell of a drug.

What he has done so far is brilliant.

First, he is such a good speaker and thinker, that he benefits from exposure. By announcing early, he has ensured himself a period of time where he gets extra exposure (which he is using flawlessly). Other candidates (Santorum, Perry, etc.) do worse when they are out there, and would do better to wait and try to catch fire at the end. Cruz is the opposite.

Second, he is primarily a constitutional conservative, not a social or fiscal conservative (obviously, there is a great deal of overlap — but he is, first and foremost, a constitutionalist). By announcing at Liberty, he has endeared himself to social conservatives. This is very similar to what Reagan, himself primarily a constitutionalist, did. Both libertarian leaning conservatives, and social conservatives, saw Reagan as their advocate and champion. Cruz is doing the same.

Third, he is framing answers around the constitution. Not only is this playing to his strength, it allows people to see what they want to in him, to some degree. Reagan, for example, had a libertarian streak (small “l”, not big “L”). But social conservatives never had reason to see him as anything other than on their side. In a way, this strengthens Cruz’ pull with social conservatives, since they know that he is deeply committed the positions he takes, and is not merely pandering (like Paul, or Bush, would be doing).

A perfect example of this is his response to the destruction of marriage movement: he makes clear his commitment to traditional marriage. But he also frames his answer as a constitutional one: it should be decided at the state level, not the federal level; and it should be decided by the legislative branch (beholden to the citizens), rather than the judicial (unaccountable and operating outside of citizen control). The result is a position which satisfies the social conservatives, but is also reasonable to those who are less sure on the issue (in fact, it can also be acceptable by reasonable pro-gay marriage supporters, if such a thing weren’t a contradiction in terms). He is staking out the middle ground, the social conservative ground, and the constitutional ground, all in one fell swoop.

At this point, he can expect strong backing from the 3 main branches of conservatism: social, constitutional, and fiscal.

Not bad for a week’s work.

I am all in for Cruz. It’s now or never for this country and we have squandered eight years under president stompy foot.

Cruz clerked for Chief Justice William Rehnquist in the Supreme Court, was a partner at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius Limited Liability law firm, served as the Solicitor General of Texas, the Domestic Policy Advisor on the Bush presidential Campaign, held posts with the Federal Trade Commission and Justice Department during the Bush administration, and now represents Texas as a U.S. senator. Cruz’s experience in law and government on the private, state, and federal levels set him apart from other likely Republican candidates.

As Solicitor General of Texas (for 5+ years), Cruz oversaw staff of thousands, with hundreds of lawyers. He’s presented, and won, multiple cases before US Supreme Court.

Go Cruz!

Just got back from a Cruz rally at the Beacon restaurant in Spartanburg, SC. Standing room only, with a large crowd outside.

The last time I went to any such thing was when my father took the family to hear Nixon speak in 1960 in Tampa, FL.

Cruz preached a barn-burner. The crowd went wild. He hit all the right notes, spoke plain English and told it like it is.

I’m all in !

What’s with the hyperbole? SKYROCKET is 60 or 70%. 13%? Better than before but he certainly hasn’t blasted out of orbit. Sheesh. Anything for attention I guess.
