What about the military foreign policy conservatives ?
Cruz not only strikes the right notes, his persona as a straight shooter, fully capable and willing to back up his positions, will aid him as well. While he may not be the first choice of foreign policy conservatives (nobody in the field has a distinct advantage, here), he won't fare badly with them.
At the risk of being repetitive, the parallel with Reagan is the obvious one. Reagan won over military conservatives with his willingness to name the enemy, call them what they were, and commit to a strong defense. This was enough, especially when combined with a general demeanor revolving around well-thought out positions, and the ability to succinctly articulate and defend them. Similarly, Cruz' outspoken defense of Israel, his willingness to name our enemies, and his apparent commitment to a strong defense, should be enough. Especially when combined with the same kind of Reagan-like ability to articulate and defend (he exceeds even Reagan in this department). He may very well win them over en masse.
While it is very early, the rest of the Republican field is in trouble. Cruz has the ability, the vacuum for real leadership is there, and Cruz is not the type of person to make too many mistakes, either in the give-and-take of a campaign, or in the more general tactical decisions.

That’s exactly what I wanted to hear, and wanted you to say, Ted Cruz’s dogmatic defense of Israel.
It was sort of a set up question in order to have someone articulate the defcon perspective of Ted Cruz winning over the Defense Conservatives.
