Two women were arrested in New York today for allegedly planning an ISIS-inspired plot to use weapons of mass destruction against persons or property in the United States, according to the Justice Department.
In a press release praising the FBI and the NYPD for their work on the case, Senator Dianne Feinstein of California said the following:
I am particularly struck that the alleged bombers made use of online bombmaking guides like the Anarchist Cookbook and Inspire Magazine. These documents are not, in my view, protected by the First Amendment and should be removed from the Internet. The Anarchists Cookbook is a DIY bomb-making manual written in the early 1970s by William Powell, a young American living in New York who was protesting U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. Powell went on to disown the book and express regret that it had ever been published. But the book lives on in print, as well as in thousands, perhaps millions of digital copies on the Internet.

Yeah, that’ll take care of the problem, Di.
Idiot.
There are so many hardcopies of it in existence, Dianne. Don’t take it away from your radical leftwing anarchist nutjobs like Bill Ayers and the Alinsky-ites.
She probably thinks the same thing about firearm literature.
Wait ‘til somebody tells her it came out in hardcopy several decades ago.
She’s making a habit out of saying things are not protected by the Constitution.
She should be removed from office for violating the oath of office.
Not only that, accesses & downloads are monitored by the gruberment, anyway.
fascists live for book burnings.
To be completely fair, she IS an "Oaf In Office"...
Jail Bill Errs.
Soon after, the ocean will be emptied with a spoon.
I didn’t know of a guy that didn’t have a copy or two when I was in high school. (this was during the 90s lol)
Next she’ll want to ban AR15 armorer’s manuals.
Yeah. We should also stop teaching chemistry in schools.
Dear Di. It’s not knowledge or literature that’s the problem. It’s what you do with it.
Should we stop teaching medicine because someone may use their knowledge of physiology to kill someone. Or to save their life.
It’s not knowledge but intent.
To moralistic I’m sure on my part. But then what are morals to a politician. The M-W dictionary says it all.
I had a copy of this book when I was in high school back in the 80s. It was the "cool" book to have because only a few independent bookstores would order it for you. There was always the rumor that ordering this book put you on some government "bad guy" list.
In retrospect, most of it seemed kinda silly. I'm not even sure the bomb recipes would work. I certainly wasn't going to try them. I do remember trying to get high off of banana peel scrapings. That was a headache-inducing failure.
I think I still have a copy of “Steal this Book” (by Abbie Hoffman iirc?) up in my attic.
I don’t recall doing any of those things, I was just a kid, but some of it was interesting. Like how to dial long distance phone calls for free to “stick it to the man”. Or Ma Bell as it were.
I’m no chemist. It seems to me that the easiest thing to use as weapon would be plain-jane gasoline. Rather than trying to figure out how to use the stuff under the kitchen sink.
Its not a very good manual really.
There are more accurate ones published by of all things the US.GOVT.
oh and.. “D” good luck with your statement # of copies probably Doubled on the net
“I do remember trying to get high off of banana peel scrapings.”
I remember back in the fourth grade sneaking into my mom’s spice cabinet with an older friend. Got into the poppy seeds. It’s basically heroin ya know! “Oh man - I shouldn’t have eaten two seeds all at once. I’m feeling oozy!”
Less Anarchist Cookbooks and more Korans.
