Scientists Say New Study Is A ‘Death Blow’ To Global Warming Hysteria

A new study out of Germany casts further doubt on the so-called global warming “consensus” by suggesting the atmosphere may be less sensitive to increases in carbon dioxide emissions than most scientists think.

A study by scientists at Germany’s Max Planck Institute for Meteorology found that man-made aerosols had a much smaller cooling effect on the atmosphere during the 20th Century than was previously thought. Why is this big news? It means increases in carbon dioxide emissions likely cause less warming than most climate models suggest.

What do aerosols have to do with anything? Well, aerosols are created from human activities like burning coal, driving cars or from fires. There are also natural aerosols like clouds and fog. Aerosols tend to reflect solar energy back into space, giving them a cooling effect that somewhat offsets warming from increased CO2 emissions.

The Max Planck study suggests “that aerosol radiative forcing is less negative and more certain than is commonly believed.” In layman’s terms, aerosols are offsetting less global warming than was previously thought. And if aerosols aren’t causing as much cooling, it must mean carbon dioxide must be causing less warming than climate models predict.

The people who have politicized what should be objective science on this matter need to be tarred and feathered and run out of town, IMHO.

“The people who have politicized what should be objective science “

It’s all about funding, not science. If government was to fund studies designed to prove the Earth was flat you could substitute “flat” for warming and everything would be nearly identical.

New Study Is A ‘Death Blow’ To Global Warming Hysteria

The hysteria is agenda driven, therefore no amount of science fact will cause a "death blow". The hysteria will never go away.

That’s not really what the study shows. If you read the study it shows that the gap between the calculated and measured warming since the turn of the century is not due to systematic errors of the models, but because there are always random fluctuations in Earth’s climate. The study also showed that that the models do not generally overestimate human-made climate change and that global warming is therefore highly likely to reach critical proportions by the end of the century. The study also states, “The claim that climate models systematically overestimate global warming caused by rising greenhouse gas concentrations is wrong.”

Really, you should read the study itself, not some spinsters interpretation of it.

Facts have nothing to do with the hysteria and new facts have no power to make the hysteria go away.

What I would like to see is Cruz cite this study.

The global warming hysteria is a convenient and easily manipulative diversion from the incompetencies of our elected officials.

There was absolutely NO sign of Global warming in Eastern Canada this winter.....and that’s a fact. Below freezing temperatures began in mid December of 2014, with no thaw whatsoever until mid March of 2015. In years of the active sun cycle, there always were thaws in January and February , usually with rain.

Not this year. The Arctic is back. Big Time.

Halifax, N.S., usually with balmy winter clime, had the highest snow fall of its recent history.

There is no longer any Global warming, we now are in a cooling phase.

"There are also natural aerosols like clouds and fog. Aerosols tend to reflect solar energy back into space, giving them a cooling effect that somewhat offsets warming from increased CO2 emissions."

The flip side of this explanation is during the night clouds and the like act as a blanket and prevent heat being radiated into space.

No, I disagree. It is all about political ideology. The left thought they had they had the perfect issue to bring about their international objectives. Global Warming was the perfect malady because it was the fault of White Europe and N. America.

It isn’t about science. Never was. It isn’t about climate. It’s about changing the name/game of domination, period.

Communism used to be the go to boy - but he ran out of money. Forms of socialism, fascism and other ideological bents (religion, ecology, etc.) filled the vacuum.

Now it’s AGCC (a true cult for some, a means to domination for those who lead it).

March 31, 2015: “WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Obama administration’s plan for U.N. climate change talks encountered swift opposition after its release Tuesday, with Republican leaders warning other countries to “proceed with caution” in negotiations with Washington because any deal could be later undone.

The White House is seeking to enshrine its pledge in a global climate agreement to be negotiated Nov. 30 to Dec. 11 in Paris. It calls for cutting greenhouse gas emissions by close to 28 percent from 2005 levels within a decade, using a host of existing laws and executive actions targeting power plants, vehicles, oil and gas production and buildings.

But Republican critics say the administration lacks the political and legal backing to commit the United States to an international agreement.

“Considering that two-thirds of the U.S. federal government hasn’t even signed off on the Clean Power Plan and 13 states have already pledged to fight it, our international partners should proceed with caution before entering into a binding, unattainable deal,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said.

U.S. officials stressed that their Intended Nationally Determined Contribution, U.N. lingo for its official submission, stands on sound legal footing, with the measures drawing authority from legislation such as the Clean Air Act and the Energy Independence and Security Act.

Todd Stern, the lead U.S. climate change negotiator, said he frequently tells foreign counterparts that “undoing the kind of regulation we are putting in place is very tough to do.”

But elements of the administration’s climate policy already face legal challenges. On April 16, a federal appeals court in Washington, D.C. will hear arguments from 13 states opposed to as-yet-unfinalized regulations from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that target emissions in existing power plants..........................”

I’m sure a few scientist in this study will mysteriously disappear. It’s not about climate change or global warming it’s about money.

Only the abstract of the study is available to the public. The rest of it is behind a pay wall.

Speaking as a scientist, because my field is not even remotely related to meteorology, I have to say that the abstract is very difficult to read. I simply do not have the background knowledge and understanding of the field to interpret it, and I am sure that the same would be true of the paper itself. I do not doubt that the statement, “The claim that climate models systematically overestimate global warming caused by rising greenhouse gas concentrations is wrong,” that you quoted is in the study. However, it is difficult to place in context. Is it actually consistent with the results of the study, stating a logical conclusion derived from the data? Or is it what I like to call a “throwaway” pro-anthropogenic global warming statement, which is not logically related to any of the data but tossed in to make the study look like further support of the AGW model in order to make the authors more competitive for funding?

In the biological sciences, I constantly see phrases like “because of global warming” thrown in as possible explanations for the data, no matter how unrelated the data is to AGW, or how many other, genuinely plausible, explanations for the observations exist. That practice occurs completely for the funding, not the science.

Be careful not to take the bait and help the left prop up their straw man. There is always climate change. The left needs to prove that man is responsible for any appreciable effect in the climate. More so, it doesn't matter that the climate changes so much as it does that the world needs to secure greater amounts of ENERGY to either heat or cool where Man inhabits. ENERGY!

He didn't take the bait, you did.

He said GLOBAL WARMING AND YOU REPLACED IT WITH CLIMATE CHANGE.

No one disputes that the climate changes, every second of every day every where there is climate change.

Man doesn't cause it and if every human died today, the climate would still change tomorrow.

And you need to be screamed at, bait sucker.
