Let's get it from Ted Cruz's om mouth.

Here's whathe himself said about immigration:

End Obama's illegal amnesty via Congress' checks & balances

Q: How to respond to the split within your party on immigration? What you're saying is that the Republicans should vote to fund the governments for all departments except one: no funding for the Department of Homeland Security, which handles immigration, rescinding President Obama's executive action, and if he vetoes that, he's responsible for shutting down the department. The problem is that's almost exactly what you did with the government shutdown across the entire government in 2013 with ObamaCare, and it backfired badly on your party.

CRUZ: All across this country, Republicans campaigned, saying: if you elect a Republican Senate, we will stop President Obama's illegal amnesty. We need to honor what we said. We should use the constitutional checks and balances that we have to rein in the abuse of power of the executive. Step #1 is if the president implements this lawless amnesty, that the Senate will not confirm any executive or judicial nominees.

Defund amnesty; and refuse any nominees until rescinded

Q: How would you rescind President Obama's executive action on immigration?

CRUZ: We should use the constitutional checks and balances that we have to rein in the abuse of power of the executive. Step #1 that I have called for is the incoming majority leader should announce if the president implements this lawless amnesty, that the Senate will not confirm any executive or judicial nominees, other than vital national security positions, for the next two years, unless and until the president ends this lawless amnesty. That is an explicit authority given to the Senate.

Q: Are you saying the Senate should refuse to confirm the president's new nominee for attorney general?

CRUZ: We have to rein in the executive. In the Federalist Papers, our Framers talked about a president who would behave like a monarch. And step #2, we've got is the power of the purse, and we should fund one at a time the critical priorities of the federal government, but also use the power of the purse to attach riders.

No path to citizenship for 1.65 million illegals in Texas

When discussing what to do about the 1.65 million illegal immigrants living in Texas, Cruz weaved into the Second Amendment, alleging his opponent didn't support gun rights. "What does this have to do with the question?" Sadler asked before fiercely denying his opponent's allegation. Cruz again said he didn't support a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants living in America, while Sadler said the opposite, as expected.

Give police more power to ask about immigration status

Cruz accused Dewhurst of using his position as head of the Texas Senate to kill a bill last year that would have given police more power to ask anyone they detain about their citizenship status--a charge Dewhurst denied.

Both agreed that the US has failed to secure its border with Mexico, and said they oppose amnesty for illegal immigrants and the Obama administration's new directive allowing many young illegal immigrants brought to the US as children to be exempted from deportation.

Anything short of deporting illegal aliens is amnesty. There is no gray area here.

I don’t put much credence in what ‘Allahpundit’ is selling. He’s shown to be a RINO time and time again. Some say he’s Joe Scarborough.

Why, oh why, can’t someone make a definitive statement on this issue. I can see us looking very weak and uncertain on this. Cruz HAS TO do better than this:

“I think his main priority is dealing with the border security component and making sure that we know who is coming into the country and making sure that we have control over who is coming into the country and then we can deal with what to do with the people who are already here,” she said…
...........................................

Well, is it to much to ask him to very clearly state EXACTLY what will happen to the illegals currently here? These people have had years to think about this issue and this what we get?

There will not be a national GOP candidate that will deport every illegal alien. Not going to happen, ever. Not Cruz, not Walker, nobody.

The FReepers who cling to the idea that we’re not going to have some form of ‘amnesty’ are utterly naïve. Best case scenario we secure the border. The cake is baked.

Cruz, Walker...I don't care who the GOP nominee is. If you support amnesty, I'm staying home. I don't care about the wailing or nails on the chalkboard about Hillary becoming President if we don't hold our noses again. I know it's going to happen on FR, I've been on this board since 1999 and I'm done holding noses for corrupt RINOs who share the same goals as Rats.

This issue is a no-brainer. All Republicans should be diametrically opposed to ANY forms of amnesty. In fact, they should be loudly trumpeting their support against amnesty and frame the issue in terms of national security, public safety, public health, and national sovereignty.

This includes weasel words such as "pathway to citizenship," "earned citizenship," "legal status", or "back of the line." ENOUGH! All illegal aliens residing in the U.S. MUST go home. NO EXCEPTIONS. They are NOT America's problem. I don't care about the sob stories of babies or illegals who became productive citizens after 10 or 20 years. I don't care.

Also, legal immigration needs to be completely overhauled. Repeal the 1965 Ted Kennedy Immigration bill and return to a strict quota system. Abolish green cards, guest-worker permits, and H1-B visas.

I have said the same, that it is hard to tell who is running in order to round out a ticket as VP, and who will settle for nothing but the main prize.

The question is who would agree to run to share a ticket with say, Jeb Bush? He is so liberal that Cruz could be a pick for him to round out his ticket.

And, would Jeb Bush be willing to serve anyone as VP, not that anyone would want anything from him but his already 100 million dollar war chest?

We once again have so many running that the best funded establishment pick can run up the middle for the nomination.

It has ALWAYS worked before. So, my question is what really has changed?

Let’s make all welfare recipients illegal.
Maybe then, they too will start to work and make enough money to not only support themselves but send money to family back home in Mexico/Africa/wherever.

Think about it.
We have millions of lazy Obama voters collecting welfare. They were born here, speak the language and know the culture.
On the other hand, we have some 30 million illegals who crossed a perilous river, trekked across a scorched desert and raced across a dangerous highway to find opportunity in a land where they do not speak the language and the citizens do not necessarily like them; YET, they manage to not only support themselves through hard work but often send money home to family south of the border.

What is the excuse of our welfare Obama voters?

I knew it...I just knew it! I didn’t know how long it would take, but I just knew that those professing their undying love for Cruz a week ago would turn on him if he was 100% perfect in every way. I’ve been proven right.

I’m absolutely convinced No candidate will ever meet the perfection criteria that those here on FR demand. I’m also a bit confused as to why those perfect FReepers who will not tolerate anything less than perfection don’t run for office themselves? Come on guys...show Cruz, Walker and the rest how it’s done. Show us what perfection is all about...run for POTUS!

To those even thinking of staying home in 2016, I have just a few words for you: GO F#*K yourselves! This limp wristed, childish, self-serving mindset gave Obama a second term to complete the destruction we’re now witnessing. Now you idiots want to give another Democrat (Communist) a chance at running the nation for another four years! You people are the antithesis of a Patriot!

Cruz supports temporary work permits. I believe he said 5 years but I may be wrong on that.

He has stated that he does not believe in rewarding someone who broke the law to get into this country with citizenship.

He proposed amendments to an immigration bill in 2013 that would have prohibited a pathway to citizenship for illegals.

“Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, a newly elected Republican with a penchant for making headlines, filed an amendment that would bar undocumented immigrants currently living in the United States from ever earning citizenship.”

http://www.tpnn.com/2015/01/13/ted-cruz-outlines-bold-10-point-plan-republicans-should-focus-on-for-2016/

The work permits would give them temporary legal status in that they would be here legally but it would not give them citizenship.

Securing the
border and stopping illegal amnesty is part of Cruz’s 10 pt. plan.

Face it...every POTUS candidate will have to have to a path to citizenship for illegals in some form...

The only question is how onerous will that path be and how effective will it be...

- We cannot deport millions of illegals...

- "Dreamers" (brought here illegally by their illegal parents)do have a legitimate point as long as they are not criminals, pay taxes ...

- Both political parties have a skin in the game for various reasons...

- A POTUS can only approve or veto immigration legislation not make law...

All is really moot until we get serious about building a fence...

I'm afraid it will take a nuke smuggled over the border that takes out Houston or LA before that happens...
