This story is probably payback for the local bishop’s recent decision to enforce Catholic moral doctrine in Catholic institutions. The press doesn’t like it, and they’re fighting back.
Away from discussing a church?
I think you are an ex-Catholic. Am I right?
Hell hath no fury like a fallen away Catholic.
None of that has anything to do with this story, and there was no warning sign.
See post 55.
What is with the personal attacks, I'm not an exCatholic.
Look at your posts on this thread and what you are defending, and you want to admonish people for being bad Christians because they find fault with the illegal construction of the system and the lack of any warnings before drenching homeless people, from the Priest involved?
and declare them baptized and they probably won’t show up again, except for Christmas and Easter
Sure, call it being in the US Army on multiple maneuvers and where, having a wet sleeping bag was better than sleeping in the rain, soaked, under a rubber poncho.
When you realize these people use the walls of the establishments they camp near for urinals and worse, the picture becomes a little more clear.
This church probably has some type of program helping the less fortunate in the area. Most all churches do.
When I was stationed at Ft. Lewis, we would stay wet the entire time in the field, and those old Korean war bags would never dry in that constant moisture, extremely miserable.
It has EVERYTHING to do with this story. The homeless have been asked, told, and warned to avoid creating problems in the entry ways. There are places ON THESE GROUNDS which the church has asked the homeless to use.
The fact is that you don’t like the way they were warned and you are all upset about them not getting a city permit, etc...
What you are complaining about doesn’t fix the problem of the derelict homeless crapping on the steps and leaving dangerous trash.
You seem to not care about the health and well being of those who have to go to work there each day - that doesn’t sound very Christian-like, either.
It is over.
After inspecting the cathedral, the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection filed a notice of violation against the archdiocese and the cathedral, giving them 15 days to remove the system. In response, the archdiocese has taken out a plumbing permit to remove the entire watering system, which releases hundreds of gallons of water every night.
There was no warning sign, and the church will have to find some other way to protect that entrance way.
See post 73.
The plumbing is another story..and they won’t be the first to screw up that in buildings.
As for warnings to the squatters...they had plenty and then some...more importantly willing hands to help them have a roof over their head otherwise ...they refused.
You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink....and if he reuses consequences will follow.
These are not..the poor...Jesus alludes to...these are chemically addicted people who refuse offers to help. They want their lifestyles as they are.
My little sister, an MI captain, said that she would never complain again about it “always raining” in Germany, 3rd Armored Division in the Frankfurt to Fulda area, again after her first year with I Corps at Ft. Lewis.
How can someone be making personal attacks against invisible, unknown people in the news, who aren’t on this thread, or members here?
I’m not ignoring anything about anything, I’m merely trying to stay on this little story about the illegal and unmarked plumbing system installed to hose down the homeless by this church.
It is like coming upon someone hosing down some sleeping homeless person on a winter night and sending him into the night wet cold and with no dry clothes or bedding, and deliberately having not put up a warning sign that you were going to do it, and when called on it, pointing out that at other times you are helping other homeless people. So what, it doesn’t cover for taking this action.
When you live outdoors, the wet at Ft. Lewis becomes kind of mind blowing, and the misery is the norm.
Your sister probably lives in a big tent though, and the Army doesn’t still use the old totally useless “shelter half” do they?
Add up donations to ‘the homeless’ in San Francisco and it’ll come to MORE than enough to buy homeless person a home.
One more reason to ban all so called ‘non-profits’...
The Catholic Church is blazing a path with its auto-flushing alcoves!
