New York goes high-tech to detect gunfire amid rise in shootings

New York City police are employing a high-tech system to pinpoint gunfire amid an uptick in shootings in the nation's largest city, officials said on Monday.

With the installation of the tracking system, ShotSpotter, New York continues its foray into technology-assisted policing, which recently equipped New York Police Department officers with body cameras, Mayor Bill de Blasio and Police Commissioner William Bratton told a news conference.

Wait, WHAT? What the hell's going on here. Didn't they just pass the "safe act"? Obviously they need more gun laws to "prevent" these shootings. And, unless there's a cop one block over, they'll still get there about 20 minutes too late. And the IPOS/SPOS tax payers will be billed for these new listening posts.

This system has been deployed in most large cities for quite some time.
Fact is they are also using it on freeways throughout the country too.

Didn’t Rudy have a simple method, that actually worked, to reduce crime?

Now the libtards want to spend millions for something that cronies will supply at elevated prices.

These systems are also capable of overhearing conversations. The system is designed to “alert” when a shot like noise is heard but they are basically “open-microphones”.
