EXCLUSIVE: UNION OFFICIAL SAYS ‘CORPORATE GREED’ BEHIND PUSH FOR H-1B VISAS
Breitbart ^ | March 16, 2015 | by ADELLE NAZARIAN

Posted on 03/16/2015 2:18:10 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

A so-called “war on the American worker” has intensified in the Golden State.

Massive layoffs are being spearheaded by the multi-billion dollar Southern California Edison utilities company, which is terminating scores of American IT workers and replacing them with immigrant IT workers, from a slew of foreign counties, who are willing to work for far less compensation. These immigrants are in the U.S. on an H-1B visa program.

“We don’t need foreign workers. We have plenty of Americans who are fully capable and equipped to carry out these jobs. It’s an absolute issue of corporate greed; nothing more nothing less,” former Edison employee and Marine Pat Lavin told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview late last week.

Lavin is a stalwart Democrat who serves as a business manager and financial secretary for the the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local #47. “Edison are master liars,” Lavin cautioned, quipping that he “caught them telling the truth last week and they tried to lie their way out of it.”

Lavin spoke with Breitbart News as one of the California Edison workers laid off in the scandal that Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) and Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) have hammered the company for. Grassley called the layoffs “heartless” and Issa argued that this appears to be an abuse of the program.

America is facing a surplus of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) workers who are unemployed or have been laid off from work due to companies, like SoCal Edison, that have been outsourcing American jobs to immigrants. According to an article from Robert Charette in IEEE Spectrum, the so-called “STEM Crisis”—where tech leaders like Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who claim they need to import cheap foreign labor—is a “myth.”

This has been going on for years. Some are poorly trained and some are ok. Doesn’t matter, they will pay 3 or 4 of them to do the job of one rather then hire an American.

Because the unions want Miilions of unskilled, newly minted citizens to organize once they become legal. Meat processing, veggie pickers etc They want to hold you food hostage.

Remember the growing job market is service oriented not factory labor.

I do not believe that Unions should drive up wages to the point that SoCalEdison or other entities should be compelled to do this.

However, even if U. S. employees are not overpaid, people from India can still afford to work for much less.

Problems with unions aside, I consider it the act of a treasonous individual to put U. S. Citizen out of work, simply to make a bigger profit.

Folks, if we’re not going to employ our neighbors, what is the value of having a nation in the first place?

I want my neighbors to have healthy financial standing. It makes for a more stable family for them. It makes for a more stable community. It makes for a better income stream for local, state, and federal tax coffers. And yes, the government debt can’t be paid down without this.

We have over 40 million people out of work in our nation, and we’re still standing by watching more citizen’s jobs outsourced at this time.

When is enough enough?

The worst part is that they are trying to encourage young Americans to study in this field while this is happening right in front of their eyes.

“Globalization” has destroyed our way of life, no doubt.

Actually, once one hits levels in IT where an M.S. in computer science or computer engineering is needed, an awful lot of the immigrant IT workers were trained in this country, at least their last two years.

I’m also *very* dubious that a B.Sc. in computer science from any institution in China or the Indian subcontinent is better training than a B.S. from any of the top twenty undergraduate computer science programs in the U.S. The same for computer engineering.

“This has been going on for years. Some are poorly trained and some are ok. Doesn’t matter, they will pay 3 or 4 of them to do the job of one rather then hire an American.”

And it will take 3-4 times longer to get it done. Then they will fire the PM for not getting the project done on time or on budget.
