West Lebanon Legislation that would have expanded background checks for certain gun sales in Vermont and New Hampshire was effectively killed in both Montpelier and Concord this week, though two other gun-safety measures did advance in the Vermont Senate.
In Montpelier on Friday, Vermonts Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously approved a gun bill that would prohibit some convicted criminals from possessing weapons and require people found by a court to be a danger to themselves or others to be reported to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, according to the Associated Press.
But dropped from the bill was what many had considered to be the heart of the proposal a measure to expand background checks for private gun sales, which had drawn strong opposition from gun owners groups.

Background checks, like “Federal Firearms Licensing” for dealers need to be abolished - only going to be done if States tell the Feds to go to hell.
Wow. Who knew it is currently legal for convicted criminals in Vermont to possess weapons?
You'd think that the Vermont and Federal governments would have gotten around to passing that law long before now.

Define ‘criminal’? That could include anything. Burning your trash/leaves without a permit. Shooting a duck 1 min after legal shooting hours. Driving on an expired license.
