“Between the four adults, we hold six degrees. Three of us are journalists. And not one of us had thought to call the police”
Four adults six degrees, you know who’s paying the freight. When one of their dear beloved gets shot by a black thug, they should remember not calling the PD. Fed up with them constantly crying and whining.
They are worthless degrees and taxpayers pay those teacher’s salaries and usually fund the student.
There followed riots and looting. Minority businesses in ther own neighborhood burned, and the grocery stores moved out. The cry went up, "HEY! We have no jobs! And we have to travel to get our groceries!" And in comes Clinton's DOJ. And we get "citizens Review Boards" second-guessing the cops...and the cops start pulling back, tracking crime and taking notes, but doing less to try and prevent crime...because if they make a wrong move, they'll get sued...playing it safe. Black on black crime goes up. And then..."Why aren't the cops protecting us?" becomes the new cry.
Who caused this mess? The boy's mamma (no dad) told him "You ALWAYS run from the police!"
The cops are charged with protecting everybody. You did it Mama.
Academics in my state of Wisconsin are screeching about funding cuts instituted by Scott Walker. I wonder how much money is wasted on all those gender and ethnic studies programs and all the affirmative action advisors and general parasites?
I’m with you - could have been a road rage incident with a frightened young woman driven off the road... police don’t know the father or the daughter. Err on the side of being safe and all...
If taxpayers have to fund higher education it should at least be limited to studies that would enable the student to get a real job and pay taxes in the future. If they want to take these other courses, let them pay for it.
Committing crimes has consequences.
The truth is that you didn't have much interest in reading it in the first place, either that or you need to work hard on your reading comprehension.
There were four adults, who hold six degrees among them. Among the four adults, there are three journalists.
Before you dismiss out of hand the complaints of probably responsible people, at least pay attention to the complaints.
Even though I am a white guy, I have always lived well below my means, and when I was young, I was subjected to a lot of the police harassment they describe. When I had an old car, and longish hair, I did not get much respect from the po-po.
The big difference is that I could cut my hair and buy newer cars. Suddenly -- respect. A black guy can do that, but he still gets less respect than average.
My differences with the article are that the author shows no comprehension that she has any responsibility for fixing the problems she describes. And, she lumps justified police killings in with unjustified ones, strongly implying that they are all the fault of the police.
“My friends and I locked eyes in stunned silence. Between the four adults, we hold six degrees.
And I immediately tune them out.”
Not to mention 4 being “journalists”. In other words “America hating commies”.
Six black grievance degrees.
Notice these “educated” black folk are more upset at the cops than the black hoodlum spraying bullets across a busy street.
My friends and I locked eyes in stunned silence. Between the four adults, we hold six degrees.
And I immediately tune them out.
In WHAT universe does someone yelling at another person justify a third person bringing to bear Deadly Force?
The story is essentially true. Solution? 1) More and bigger government. All anecdotes and analysis say government is the problem. So we need another layer of government on top of the existing layers. 2) Smaller government. More personal liberty, which is almost as scary as abusive police.
Where self-defense and personal responsibility are encouraged there is less crime. Where responsibility is placed on the government, the police, there is more crime. This is true outside the blue-n-white also. Take the government stimulus programs of the past 7 years. They have stimulated the super-rich. They have not stimulated the rest of us, despite the rhetoric. We delude ourselves to think that the government is friendly and our friend. It is a necessary evil that must be limited in what it can do to us.
No police in my area either, there would be nothing for them to do!
“Between the four adults, we hold six degrees”
Who says affirmative action doesn’t work?
You can be protected and served, Muhammad says. It happens every day in communities across America. It happens all the time in white communities where crime is happening.
I believe this young woman has a good understanding of how middle class blacks feel living in a black community. Nikoe Hannah Jones' comments are insightful - honest to the point of painful. Her view of police from a black perspective is accurate - but tinged with paranoia... Hannah Jones even understands that... she gets her own bias.
That's good.
But when she walks mentally out of that environment and into 'white world', she's WRONG. So wrong it's laughable.
OK, Nikoe - here's my take on police in 'white world' - neighborhoods far away from black communities. I've lived in my home for decades. In all that time I've seen one - maybe two - police cars in my neighborhood. Max. Two... I'm sure police have been in my neighborhood more often than that...but not while I've been driving, walking the dog, trimming the bushes etc. Less than one sighting a decade.
A few years ago my city decided that police were so busy they were not going to come to a persons home if a theft had taken place where less than $10,000 was taken... same with showing up for car crashes. Had to be over $10,000 worth of damage. Anything less and citizens could request a form - fill it out - and mail it in. That's what people in 'white world' get for the thousands of dollars we pay in property taxes for protection.
Nothing.
And do you know why Nikoe? It's because cops spend all their time babysitting the black community. I don't mean that to be insulting... or maybe I do.
There's anger on our side too.
In my neighborhood families have private security system. Paid for monthly - on top of property taxes. We also have a community watch program... that comes out of our pockets and private time.
Police departments should be run like fire departments. Police would be assigned to an area that covers a certain number of square miles. They'll have a 'police house' much like a fire house. If nothing is happening in their area they can train, cook, read, or play cards. Whatever.
If an area requires MORE policing than their fair share - they'll be billed for the difference. The amount owed can be added to water or cable bill or subtracted from any government check. Service by neighborhood - billed by neighborhood.
This system changes incentives.
Criminals go from being the city's problem to being a neighborhood problem.
YOU would see your neighbor differently if she was raising a criminal - because YOU would be paying for his violent reactions... NOT ME.
The 'no snitch' rule would be gone by the second month.
Black people would STOOP standing with every thug because of the color of his skin. AND you would start seeing police differently. They would also see their role in the black community differently.
So, here's a confession - as much as police are needed in high crime area - and they do risk their lives to help black people - I feel their overwhelming presence has a negative effect on the black community. Step one to making things better is talking truthfully to each other... not at each other...
If you would not use a gun to defend your own daughter, just say so.
If you don’t want cops to defend your own daughter with a gun, don’t call them.
