I've been reading that India has a permissive view of rape. Not in this case. Wonder if it had to do with the perp being India's version of an illegal alien.

I was looking to see if this was related to the story of the poor woman who was gang raped and one of the perps said that she brought her beating and subsequent death upon herself for fighting back.
That I would have had small satisfaction for.

well, India doesn’t have a permissive view of rape. Rape is bad there, but statistically lower than in other countries — that doesn’t make it “good for women”, but doesn’t make it a “hellish land for women” either — it’s bad and MUST improve, but it’s not the pits, yet
