With Wisconsin Governor Scott Walkers numbers and name recognition climbing, Rasmussen Reports is out with a new poll that has him giving likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton a run for her money, now that Walker is seen as at the head of the GOP pack of potential candidates.
Forty-six percent (46%) of Likely U.S. Voters say they would vote for Clinton in a matchup with Walker if the 2016 presidential contest were held today. But a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that nearly as many (41%) would choose Walker instead. Eight percent (8%) prefer some other candidate, while six percent (6%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
Also, in what may be a bit of surprise, people appear to be paying attention early.
Seventy-eight percent (78%) say they are following recent news reports about the 2016 presidential race at least somewhat closely, with 35% who are following Very Closely. Among voters who are following the closest, Walker leads Clinton 51% to 43%.

Scott Walker's website: Our American Revival - good video introduction and Ronald Reagan quote.
Hillary Clinton will be toast soon.
Let’s see how Scott does against Injun Liz!
Well darn.... “Nobody in this country got rich on his own”
Looks like Übershrew is coming back down to a little ol’ place called “reality.” Those liberals who were oh-so-confident when seeing her at double-digits ahead of every GOPer are going to start peeing themselves in abject fear as her veneer of “inevitability” wears away further.
Of course, they’ll try to comfort themselves with false notions about Scott
Rasmussen being a “Republican” pollster... never mind the fact he left that outfit in 2012.
In a sane world, an eklementary school janitor would be a contender against Hitlery...
The directive to destroy hildabitch must be coming from the top dog in the demonRAT establishment, george soros.
We know that obummer is a puppet, and is only doing what he does with valarie jarret hand up his butt, and no other demonRAT has the juice to pull this off.
You know that the nyslimes would never dump on the klintoons without orders from the top.
You are so right.
I watch Morning Joe at the gym in the mornings in order to see what the enemy is up to.
Washington Post is the staid old lady these days, with Mr. Potato Head (and mash-potato brain) Eugene Robinson ruefully trying to maintain a defense of Hillary.
But the NYT people and the MSNBC regulars are throwing everything they have at the Clintons. They realize Hillary was yesterday’s news clear back in 2008.
They want Warren. They would take O’Malley. They want Occupy and class warfare. Leftism pure and simple.
bttt
Yes. I think there is a kind of an opposition on the left side against her. Too many little (and some potentially big) items coming out here and there. Lying, emails, drinking, Bill and Virgin Island, etc. The right candidate with cojones enough to disregard that crap about playing nice with her could devastate her in any debate that isn’t scripted by the moderators (Hillary’s people).
The question is for whom? I’ve heard some say Warren. But I just cannot bring myself to believe that. The woman is the epitome of an ex mother-in-law. If there is someone, I really can’t put a pin in it, but it doesn’t mean he/she doesn’t exist right now.
They may even draft Bill de Blasio!
; )
That's a candidacy I could live with.
Even the idiot GOP could probably beat Wilding Bill.
Id vote for the janitor over the current crop running. Likely more common sense in that janitor than all of the politicians combined.
No. They would loose to him.
The title should read
Rasmussen: Scott Walker a Contender vs. Hillary Clinton I Could Have Been A Contender
GOOD one!
: )
It would be funny to take a clip out of the movie and photoshop Hillary’s head over Marlon Brando’s.

........[SNIP]...
He captured 47 percent of the first choices, and featured as a first, second, or third choice on no less than 78 percent of the ballots.......
Walker: 47/78
Cruz: 9/29
Rubio: 8/31
Carson: 7/27
Paul: 7/14
Bush: 6/18
Jindal: 3/21
Perry: 2/16
Kasich: 2/13
Pence: 2/11
Huckabee: 2/9
All the other candidates had one percent of first place choices or less, and were mentioned on nine percent or fewer of the ballots in any of the first three places.
Obviously, this was not a scientific survey but rather a poll of those who chose to participate. Equally obvious, the race is early and seems very fluid. But its well known that WEEKLY STANDARD readers are an unusually perceptive, predictive, and prescient bunch! So make of these numbers what you will...but ignore WEEKLY STANDARD readers judgmentseven if they are early and tentative onesat your own peril.
